Angry Alt. bracket help!!

Hi guys, I am working on my 6.0 to go in my 70 Camaro. I DO NOT have power steerng or A/C. I am needing to know what is a good way to install my alternator. All the belt systems I am finding (March, Pace, etc) are like $900 and up.....I dont wanna pay that much. Alot of the info on here I have found deals with either having A/C or power steering or both. Where can I get a nice looking setup for my motor? I don't mind paying some, but not my whole budget. Do any of you know of any links? Thanks

The A/C runs off separate belt and can be deleted easily.

You could reroute with a different belt and delete the PS pump and run the stock truck bracket easy enough and it would be pretty much way cheaper. But the alt would be higher. You could mod that bracket to lower the alt as well.

Not my picture just on off google.

Default Easy and Cheap

Here is what I put together to run my alternator for my 73' Nova swap. Your 70' would be pretty similar on space constraints. I had the bracket laser jet locally. Its not as pretty, but it works!

Yes, that is a 140Amp truck alternator, craddled in a stock F-body bracket. And since I do not need the idler pulley I shaved that arm off the bracket.

Because I am running the truck water pump, crank pulley and tensioner I had to create this bracket to space the F-body bracket 3/4" further away from the front plane of the engine to line up with the truck belt spacing.

Unfortunately, I did not have any more brackets made. But I will shoot you a PM and we can figure out details to have another one made.

IF you have room to mount it low on the right side, check out my l33 valkyrie thread. I put mine together for like $60, It uses the stock F body bracket and the same bolt holes on the block that the F body uses, you are using the 6.0 so you would need to drill and tap one hole ( I think) . IF it were me I would have it tapped as I am no good at keeping things straight, plus, I would probably put a helicoil in it right from the beginning, I don't trust aluminum threads, and if you have to mess with it I'd go that way the first time.

Bottom line, alternator mounted for $30 (if you can find a bone yard part) $60 (if you tap it yourself) $100 if you have it drilled and helicoiled by some one else, and if you do use that set up and have any questions let me know, It really was easy once I had all the part numbers and found the bolts.
