Default Does anyone know where I can get this???

Ok so this is the fuel section, I'd say fuel and air go together so here we go, I'm putting an ls1 in my mustang and I don't want to go crazy with a cool air intake or anything I just want something small that will get the job done. I've been looking on google and came across this picture has anyone on this site seen this and more importantly know where I can get one?...


Any help or suggestions for something like this would be greatly appreciated.

This would really be better in the conversions / hybrids section.

Which part are you talking about? There are a lot of things in the picture which really lacks a focal point. Since you mentioned air I'm going to assume you are referring to the MAF / air filter assembly or the EGR block off plate for the pre 1997 to 1999 LS1 intakes. Both parts came from Street and Performance.

The S&P guys have a lot of cool stuff but they are very proud of it, so bring deep pockets. Their web site is the absolute pits to navigate and their catalog isn't much better.

So you just want a short air filter to clamp onto the throttle body ?

If so, I would go to a MAFless tune and just buy a suitable filter.

I would think that placing the MAF so close to the throttle and intake would cause issues due to an unstable MAF signal.
The OEM would never do this for the same reason. MAF's are always placed in a straight section of tubing a few inches long to ensure smooth airflow through them

And, fan wash will screw with the MAF reading... BTDT, and we sent the "system" back.
Additionally, you may see tune being "messed with", due to hi IAT readings...

I love that "Hot Air" Intake system from S&P.
It has caused more problems with vehicles then I have ever seen from any other part.

Spend the money and get the air flow to the engine from somewhere other than the electric fan blowing hot air from the radiator.

It appears to be a S&P Setup... check out their site for the parts.. as noted, It has it problems..

As mentioned already, the turbulent air coming from the radiator fan will impact signals from the Mass Air Flow sensor. Additionally the hot air coming in will cause the computer to pull timing out reducing your power. I have seen quite a few of these filter/MAF set ups in use and the cars run OK. But they could be running with a lot more power and responsiveness if the motor was getting cooler, clean air. Depends on what your goals are for the car.

They have accurately explained the problems, the air you get is HOT at all times because it comes through the radiator, and the turbulence will screw with the MAF sensor.

Hot air would only be a concern when static or moving very slowly. At speed it wouldnt be a real issue.

Airflow through a MAF placed there will always be an issue and it should never be done like that
