Default 87 notch

starting my next project. sold the 94 now on to a 87 coupe. going stock lq4 4l60e to start off and then upgrade when time comes. car has 8.8 with 4.10 posi in rear with tubular control arms and et streets already. flaming river manual rack and 255 walbro pump with 8 an braided fuel line and a nitrous line already. battery relocated to rear.

i will be running a ls1 intake and 36lb injectors. will have longtube headers, x pipe, and turndowns.

any guess on what it may run on a stock motor and trans?

I dont see why some mid to low 8s in the 1/8th wouldnt be possible. High 7s with the right converter.

I have a stock LS1 in a 1991 mustang GT. It has a turbo 3500 with a 3500rpm stall converter and 4.30 gears. It has a tune and some home made ram air. It doesn't even have headers just manifolds and some short 2 1/2 inch pipes. It weighs 2850 with me in it and has went as quick as 7.51 on motor and 6.78 with a 150 shot of nitrous in the 1/8th.

Damn how did you get the 302 headers to work? How far from the K member is your block sitting? I have mac 302 hearders and they are far from fitting..

i just cut the flanges and welded the ls flanges on. made mounts for the qa1 kmember. i used regular 302 longtubes with stock kmember. it takes a little longer to get the starter off but they fit. plus i have the flaming river rack and steering shaft. motor sits like a 1/4 or more from kmember. and i used the truck pan. my exhaust hangs lower than it so i wasn't worry about it.

It is when you have a `94-`98, they start out real heavy.

Got my 94 down to 2850lbs without driver. Manual brakes/steering, single race seat, rear seat delete, no AC or radio. A similar fox coupe would be closer to 2700lbs.

Mid 7's shouldn't be a problem for this car if not faster.

I like your build,I have read it more than once. Just think if you used an aluminum block motor, you would be 2750.
My 1995 GT with leather, mach 460 sound system, alloy wheels weighed 3400 when it was bone stock. I am going with LS1 and tubular sub frame and hoping for 3200 with some stuff removed.

this same motor when it was carbed went 7.66 in my 94 mustang. it weighed 3760 with me in it and full interior. i have since swapped it to efi, better suspension, better exhaust and lighter car hoping to get 7.30s or lower.
what do you guys think it will run.
if this setup doesn't get me there i have some l92 heads, holley 750 dp, and bigger cam ready to go back carbed.

That's really heavy for an SN95 car. 7.30's shouldn't be a problem in a coupe. You'll have a good 300-400lbs advantage if not more (depending on what all you are putting in the car). I went 7.23 in mine with a nitrous converter and 3150 race weight.

Windmill has been 6.80's in the 1/8 with a bone stock LQ4 in a couple that weighs 2650 with driver. It is carb'd though with a vic jr I believe. Lots of gear and stall though

Have any pictures of the completed exhaust since you switched to the Headman mid-length? How are you liking it?
