Thanks!!
I picked up a full extended leather M5 interior to replace the black vinyl I had previously swapped in. Here are some photos of the seats and console in. I am having 2 small areas repaired on the dash and getting the front door panels re-finished.
I got a lot done over the last two days. Found the source of an annoying clunk (sway bad end link), repaired a loose shifter, swapped over the new seats and console, pulled the rest of the interior, raised the car 1/2", installed the new Fortune upper rear mounts and removed the passenger exhaust manifold gasket and prepped it for a new one (passenger side had a leak).
I need to find an Mtech stage 1 airbag wheel.
I have only been able to drive the car a few times over the past 6 months so I am really stoked to get it back on the road with new bits and lots of little repairs.

I have only driven the car a few times over the last 6+ months but decided to change the oil last night and found this. A big cluster was on the oil pan plug. I haven't cut the filter open yet. It wasn't making any noise so hoping nothing major is damaged. Either way I was losing oil somewhere so I think I should break it down and make sure for peace of mind if nothing else.
The consensus from a few people is to fill it back with conventional and run it for 20 miles then drain and inspect. I sent the metal shavings to my friend who knows the owner of Thomson (same guy who got me the motor).
I am leaning towards just pulling the motor down. I have always been curious about a few things inside and this may give me an excuse to swap an aluminum block in if there is any work needed to the block. I just hope I don't have to replace the heads, pistons, titanium rods or the crank.

Jealous of those seats, I just bought an entire extended leather interior with the other style M5 seats. Car is going to look that much better once, its all back together. Hopefully your motor is ok, I would at least pull the pan and check rod and main bearings before running it again if it were mine. Good luck

I cut open the filter and found bearing smoothie. Planning on pulling the motor out this weekend. It's ready, just have to borrow a hoist.
While waiting on that, I did a small mod that makes a huge impact to the interior. Added brushed rings and did red needles on the gauge cluster.
Also, my old car was featured in this months issue of Bimmer magazine.

The motor is ready to come out. My new 2 ton hoist arrives today. I strained the oil and found this. Super thin (almost like foil) metal tube, not magnetic. No clue... Also the typical bearing pieces were left in the coffe filter I strained the oil with.

Clay and I had a photoshoot for a feature in Modified Mag but unfortunately, Modified and a bunch of affiliates owned by the parent company went under. I had taken some photos that day myself and since it seems unlikely they will be in any other publications, I felt it was about time to share mine. Here are a few of my favorites.

From what I understand, Hot Rod was part of the company that went under. My engine hoist was damaged in shipping and the replacement will be here Friday. I should know by the following weekend. Hoping to have the car back on the road by the end of April.

They are owned by Source Interlink, along with Popular Hotrodding, Car Craft, and dozens of other titles.
If you want medial coverage, your best bet is to attend an event like LS Fest. I doubt that Hot Rod would touch it, but other titles might.
