My Brother actually lives in Richmond off of Hull Street Rd. and my parents live outside DC. Have been considering bringing the wagon up there once weekend to get tuned by Frost. I will be sure to hit you up if the wagon ever makes the journey north.

Just talked to my machine guy. He cracked into it this weekend. So far he said the thrust and main bearings are chewed up but not too bad. Main caps, thrust and rods all look good. No discoloring etc. He should have the rest of the results soon but so far he is feeling pretty good about it

The results are in. It was the valve seals that were installed by a friend of mine after I got the motor. My machinist also said the spring seats were smaller than the seals. Half the seals were gone. Many had ridded up the stem. Lastly, he felt the springs were a little soft too but he will check all that. It seems I got lucky as he said he is confident he can just polish the crank to remove the bearing materials. It will need a light honing, new rings, bearings, seals and an oil pump.

This motor did come from Thompson. But in standard form. I had someone install the cam, valve springs, seals, rockers etc. What I don't know is how we ended up with the wrong parts from Comp. And whether it was everything that was wrong i.e. springs, seals and seats or if it's in fact just the seals and seats.

My intake manifold was scratched and I didn't like how the dirty the silver throttle body got so I painted the manifold in wrinkle black and the throttle body black using etch primer and Sikkens rally black. Also polished up the fuel rail some. My machine guy had the valve covers powdercoated in wrinkle black. Hoping to pick up the motor today. I also scored a nice pickup since I have been wanting one forever. Partially restored 1986 Toyota.

Awesome truck. Love the old Toyota trucks.
Mine is a '98 Taco with a turbocharged 2.4L, just cracked over 200,000 miles and runs strong. Sorry to hijack the thread

Thanks, everyone. It's supposed to arrive a week from today. I like black too but prefer white on a truck. I haven't decided if this one will go outside or in the garage until I get my lift. My V70R is black so I would hate to leave it outside..
BTW, picked up my motor on Sunday
