Default 70 Chevelle LS1 T56 build

Here are a couple of pictures of the build I started this winter. Hope to be finished by spring if I'm lucky.

Very nice! What radiator/hose? Is the intake piping off something else?

I'm not sure of the part number on the hose but I will get it next time I got to the auto parts store and post the part number. I was real happy how the hose ran. You don't even see it from the front view.
The cold air intake is just attached to the throttle body and held just by the hose clamps.

Not yet the wiring needs to be completed. I have to get the wiring figured out. More research.

Welding the tunnel back together this weekend. After that adding vintage air, put dash back in, wiring, and first start.

Did you use your stock cross member? Car looks good. Wiring isn't that bad once you break down and get some good tools.

I used the stock crossmember, just cut off mounting and welded back on to fit correctly.
I am sure I will be asking questions and doing some research on the wiring.

I didn't see that it is a ragtop. The wiring seems intimidating at first, but is is really much easier than you think once you dive in. I simply marked each connector and stripped all of the wire covering off. The next step was identifying the connectors that were necessary (take a look at www.lt1swaps.com) for some ideas. Then strip out all of the extra stuff. Now re wrap and connect. You will want to build a simpler fuse/relay center. I spent a week of evenings doing all of the wiring with solder and heat shrink. Everything worked correctly (except transmission, 4L60E instead of orig 4L80E) right away.

I have a lot of the wiring already done sense I purchased a wiring harness. But inside the car and the original wiring is a mess, just need to get it all straightened out.
Yes, it is a ragtop. It seems like I have seen more ragtops on LS1 Tech than anywhere else.

I was considering getting a new harness for inside the car but I haven't looked into how the wires for the top fit into the equation, I guess (hope) it's a standalone-type setup, that way it can be ignored while ripping everything else out.
If you are running headers and rewiring stuff anyway you might consider adding a relay and solenoid to your starter wiring and avoid any potential issues with heat soak. Doesn't happen to everyone but it's not exactly uncommon either. A/C install is a miserable experience, best of luck to you.

Chuckd71 The ragtop wiring on my 70 Chevelle stand alone. There is one 30 amp fuse on the firewall behind the brake booster with 2 larger gauge wires. One wire goes back to the hydraulic pump and the other goes to a box by the headlight. I think it is a relay.
