Default 1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery Ls swap Project

Hello! this is my latest project I wanted to share, Ive had the car for 2 years now, and am just starting my motor/trans swap.
I just got my GEN3 5.3/4L60E set up out of an o7 GMC
Trying to figure out what motor/trans mounts and oil pan would be best? cant decide who to go with S&P, BRP, Ecklers???? Plans are to lower the car so im a little scared about using the LH8 pan, heard they sit low.
Anybody done this swap in a tri-five??? any info is greatly appreciated!!

Dirty Dingo Mounts are really nice peices. The sliders would work well for the 55-57 Chevy.

On my 55 four door i used the ecklers small block side mounts, made my own stock location swap plates, got factory replacement 71 chevelle engine mounts. Im using an 01 5.3 and kept the truck accessories and pan because it clears the steering behind the cross member. Also im running a t-56 behind it and could not install engine and tranny together. I don't know about exhaust yet but i have a factory set of 2000 camaro manifolds that i will be trying to use. Hope this helps

Hello, my Son and I did an 5.3 LM7/munice 4-speed in our 55 2 dr. sedan. If you look thru our build you we see how we got thru the issues of installing an LS engine into a tri five. Good luck will your build, it's not real hard!

I have the 5.3 in my '57 Pontiac, and it has the rear pan truck sump still on it, which is 8" deep. The car is lowered and the truck sump has only 3" clearance to the ground, which is a bit of a worry when driving over speed humps.

I looked at several alternatives, but the only one that would give more clearance is the Holley LS #302-1 sump, but that is pretty expensive at $400 from Summit. By the time I convert US$ to NZ$ at 20% and then shipping, it comes out at about NZ$800.

My engineer mate suggested fitting a skid plate, which would ride the sump over any bumps, so I may have a look at that soon.

Best of luck with your project.

Nice car Russell! and yeah I shelled out the $ and just got the Holley oil pan, I plan on lowering the car. LS swap can get expensive$$$$ I cant imagine doing it out side the US
What exhaust manifolds did you use?
My car is completely taken apart right now and I am beginning to prep for the install, still need a few parts and trying to figure out where to get my Tune / rewiring done?
Im rebuilding the steering, suspension and brakes all so while Im doing the Motor/trans install. Wow I need to get to work! lots to do! Thanks for the info!

should be a cool project.
These cars have some unique issues to deal with.

I worked on this for a guy here in town today. doing a 5.3 4l60. Trying to get it done for mid june but it is not moving as fast as he would like

It is deff a slow project building a 55 year old car. At least you can get the stuff you need for it.

I can't wait to get a ride in this one. I don't have that urge to ride it many cars but this is one I do.
