Default Tainted's 408 240SX Build

So I thought it was time for me to make a build thread for my car.

Everything from the swap, to building the engine, file fitting rings etc is done by myself.
Im still in the process of collecting all the parts I need, but I've got the bottom end completed.

Also, I gotta brag about what a STEAL I got this whole thing for. When I was in NC for my grandpas funeral, one of his friends asked if I was interested in a 6.0 motor, and of course I said yes.
Low and behold, it was an iron block already bored .030 over, machine work completed with cam bearings installed, just unassembled. The engine came as a "package, all or nothing" this included the motor, bearings, rings, oil pump, timing chain, 317, 243, AND 799 heads, carb style intake with elbow, fuel rails, TFS 120lb injectors, Flywheel, roller rockers, MS3 camshaft, TSP .650 springs, TSP 7.4 pushrods, a truck oil pan and windage tray, and lastly the valley, and front and rear covers. Picked up the whole thing for... $2600 After I was done selling off all the things I didnt want for my build, I ended up at less than $400 for my entire shortblock I think I made out better than a dog with two dicks!

So heres a short run down of my build and what I will be using.

1996 Nissan 240SX
Infiniti Q45 LSD 3.54
T56 6 speed

408 iron block 11:5:1
-10cc dish & coated JE pistons
Eagle 6.125 H beams
Eagle 4" stroker crank

Texas Speed AFTERMARKET LS3 260cc Heads, hollow stem valves, .675 springs
Patrick G custom spec'd cam
Brian Tooley SLR lifters
Cloyes timing chain
High pressure oil pump
Factory Ls3 rockers with Trunion upgrade
FAST 102 intake 92mm Throttle body

File fitting rings

Nothing like doing motor work at the kitchen table. Keep it up.

You will be glad you went with the Q45 rear differential. It makes 1st gear on the T56 actually usable. It also will take a ton of abuse. My car spent most of its time boiling down the tires LOL. Remember to upgrade your brakes if you haven't done so already. The stock 240 brakes are no where adequate for an LS swap. I ran 300ZX twin turbo calipers front and rear with 350Z rotors in front and the required caliper spacer. Also ran the 300ZX twin turbo brake master on the stock booster. It would stop on a dime.

Mmm love the blue color!!

what made you mount the cai in that location? I was thinking of putting it down like where they put it on an lt1 car in the bumper cavity with some type of scoop to help feed it some air.

That setup was supposed to be temporary, I was going to turn it down and run it out of the engine bay but I never got around to it. I would definitely recommend it because it did cause my IAT to get pretty high while idling in traffic.

I would really recommend running it down out of the engine compartment. One problem with the 240s is that when you are idling there is a lot of heat build up in the engine bay. There really isn't a good way to get it out of there. So you get a lot of heat soak. It was always a problem for me down in south Georgia during the hot summers.

yea thats exactly why I was thinking of mounting it down in the bumper cavity and having a scoop for fresh outside air and have it sealed off from the engine compartment.

Pics of the 240 when I brought it home. Payed $3000 for it, its in pretty decent shape, the dash has the infamous crack and a few dings but it still runs great. Plus im going for the sleeper look, I want people to think its some pos beat up nissan

Rose was not happy she couldnt go for a ride in it

it would be with a set of sticky tires, some drag radials or the like, not slicks though.

I went to a friends house yesterday, it was snowing pretty good, its in an older neighborhood so the streets arent plowed or salted. Anyways, 3 state troopers were on the left aiding with some road work, right before a 4 way stop. im going real slow, they wave, I wave back, go to hit my brakes and what happens?
Of course, nothing, slid right on through it going all of maybe 8mph. the cops just laughed and shook their head.
Moral of the story, I need some bags of salt for winter.
