Think drag racing, guys that use solid mounts usually have the body stiffened up with roll cage to prevent twisting. Friend kept busting C4 tailshaft housings til he put a rubber trans mount in, allowed the motor/trans to flex enough on launch he quit busting housings.
I am using rubber mounts on the engine and trans.

Are these rubber on the bottom by the frame?

My bad then... Thought that was a piece of box steel when I scanned through the pictures.

You are definitely gonna have an easy to work on engine!!

Will be about the same as my 97 F150 project I will be embarking on later this year if the 4.2 is a dead horse.

Its okay lol. Its super easy to access everything. I can even get to all the bell housing bolts from up to. The headers take maybe 5 minutes to install. It needs just a little more clearance up on the passenger side. Other than that everything is right there. I put the engine and trans in by myself so it cant be that bad.

I'll be excited to get this thing on a scale and weigh it. Hopefully under 4000.

Good luck with it man. Like I said, if I cant fix the 4.2in my 97 Ford F150 with what I have already paid for, I am pulling it and the trans for a 4L60e/4.8 combo...

Id start keeping an eye out on the classifieds on here then. I picked up my 6.0 lq4 short block for $250. May just be worth it to put a 6.0 in it and be done with it.

If I snagged a 6.0 for that cheap, I would swap it into my S-10 and put THAT 5.3 into my F150...

It has a higher Frequency on the table to move more air uptop..we will look into that when it comes time.

Well folks the truck finally runs!!! Need to get an exhaust on it so a decent tune can be done. Truck has good oil pressure. Had a "minor" trans cooler line leak but took care of that.
Also steering box input shaft seal has a leak. But thats to be expected with a 25+ year old truck with stock seals. Picked up a new seal kit.

Heres a little better video today. Truck fired right up. My leaking steering box seemed to have went away. Going to do a filter change and top of the oil. Need to get somewhat of an exhaust on to get a tune.

For those that are keeping tabs.... Truck runs really good, just working the bugs out of the tune..been a pain trying to clean up the mess that the previous tuner did in the PCM.

Did some driving around today. Fixing bugs here and there with the truck. Getting closer. Got some temp exhaust installed. 2.5" glasspacks right off the headers and a wideband. It will get a real system eventually.Doesn't even sound like an LS motor.

been a bit since my last update. Toasted the trans pump rotor idling into a parking lot. Had that fixed. Decided to upgrade all my trans cooler lines to -6an line. Have been waiting on those lines to come in. Hopefully I can get back to some tuning soon.
