this is all test fitting. i bought a junk th350 just to test it all. Someone is borrowing my engine hoist for a couple more days so i cant bolt it all together to the motor till i get that back. Im going to try to clean up the converter snout today and see if that helps. If it doesnt... what else is there to do? its a brand new gm flywheel and i got a used spacer but i compaired it to a brand new one and they are exactly the same. does anyone have a convertert that they know works that i can get a measurement of the snout from? Im thinking its the converter and not the flywheel or spacer that is the issue...

On your converter, how long is the snout where its machined? It steps down in size where the spacer goes around. How long is that? I dont think the convereter is machined far enough to allow the spacer to slide on far enough. I sanded that part down and got all the paint off and checked again, didnt help at all. It fits on the motor fine. It just doesnt bolt to the converter right with the spacer in place.

Here i drew a picture haha, as you can tell im not an art major, thats why i work on cars, so cut me some slack haha but this is better then an actual picture. You can see the spacer doesnt allow the flywheel to bolt to the converter. I labeled it with "problem"

Mine worked just fine but I used the LS1 fbody flywheel and gm spacer/adapter. I had to sand some of the paint off the pilot on the converter but thats only because I bought a new converter from Jegs. When I researched to do mine I read something about the 5.3 flywheel would bolt right on, but then again it could be dished different causing that 1/4 in difference.

by the way for future reference. the parts I used.
GM 6.0 flat flywheel- GM part#19260102 which is superseded from #12621399 (because they now only sell it separate from the spacer and bolts. no more kit)
GM spacer part #12563532
GM longer flywheel bolts part #12563533
