th350 ls1 problem.
so ive researched the death out of this and cant figure out why this isnt working. i have a 5.3 flywheel that I drilled the holes out to fit the converter. i have a flywheel spacer and bolts. when I put it all together the flywheel sits about 1/4 inch from the torque converter. there were a couplt quick things on people milling parts to make this fit. just want to know from someone who has experience in it, what gets milled and when you do that, it pulls the torque converter further from the trans, so is that bad? not sure where to go from here. I can have either the converter or the spacer milled, just want to know which one. thanks
Maybe this will help...

I used FTI flexplate and used the adapter between the converter and flexplate and the gap was about 32nd of an inch.

When you say spacer, is it safe to assume you mean an aftermarket hub spacer and not a 4L80E hub spacer.
As MustangLS said, we use an aftermarket kit that utilizes an aftermarket spacer and flexplate with no issues on our LS2.

i have the gm spacer. im not sure what exactly it fits but i believe its part number 19263235 or something like that. would you happen to have an after market spacer that I could maybe get a couple measurements from? I bought the spacer mentioned in that link above. what I might end up doing is give the spacer to my machine shop and have them modify it do work all that needs to be done is make the part where the bolts go smaller and the snout longer. shouldnt be hard at all. and it wont cost me anything compaired to 100 bucks for the after market spacer when I spent 70 at the dealer for the spacer and bolts because thats what they said worked it that link above.
I can get you some measurements tomorrow of the aftermarket spacer.

i would appreciate that a lot.
so i just read that whole thread again and this is what i came up with that works
6.0 flat flywheel with gm or hughes spacer on engine side
5.3 curved only the hughes works and is put on trans side? is this correct?
im using a 5.3 curved with a gm spacer.

bottom the converter out in the trans and then pull it toward the flexplate a smigon and get some (same sized) flat washers and put them in between the converter and the flexplate...you might have to get longer bolts also...the washers should be around .125 thickness give or take some...hope this helps becacause i've been in your shoes a few times...billy
Ok so i got the flat flywheel. Put in on the converter and in the trans and it all seems to go toghther like you guys are saying. There is a little space between the flywheel and converter. Just to clarify... Do i just bolt it down and bend the flywheel with the bolts or do i space the converter? Ive had both answers in this same thread haha. By the way the flywheel part number superseeds to gm part# 19250102. This supersession does not come with bolts or the spacer.

You're not gonna bend anything, it'll just "pull" the converter forward out of the trans...
Well the problem is the spacer is bottoming out on the converter snout before the flywheel touches the converter. Its a b&m wholeshot converter and what i think the problem is the converter snout isnt machined down enough. Its "stepped" down to the right size. I cant remember how a regular gm converter looks. But i think its the converter thats the problem. OR THE SPACER IS ABOUT 1/8TH INCH TO LONG.
ill try but an 1/8th in is a lot of paint. a washer takes up the gap. i just think the converter isnt machined down enough. just wanted to see if anyone else ran into this problem at all.
I would think that using washers might put the converter closer to the transmission than would be desired.
