Default Carb problem

So my dad has a 75 TA with a buick 455 in it. the carb that is on it aint working right. we tried everything just shy of rebuilding it and while we are driving it down the road its fine but when we go WOT it wants to die on us dont know why. My dad bent the lever so the back 2 barrels will open all the way when going WOT we thought there could be dirt in the jets ( I think thats what they are called) but he hooked up his air hose to the fuel line and blew gas out the top of the carb and it still does it. One day he disconnected the break booster pressure hose and it ran better lol but if anyone knows anything that might help please let me know thank you.

What is the carb? When you say it dies out, does that mean that it shuts off or does it surge and slowly die?

Check the fuel pressure first, should be around 7-psi at WOT if using a mechanical pump. Sound like it is probably starving for fuel. Also check the fuel filter. Just some suggestions.

Air hose connected to the fuel line might have messed something up (needle/seat). Other things to check:
  1. Check fuel filter in carb. If I remember quadrajets right, there's a filter just inside where the hard line connects to the carb.
  2. Does the engine behave differently if you go slowly to WOT vs. suddenly the WOT?
  3. Is the PCV valve connected correctly, and operating? (possible source of vacuum leak)
  4. Is the brake booster valve connected correctly, and operating? (possible source of vacuum leak). Same goes for the vacuum advance hose going to the distributor.
  5. Does this engine have an EGR valve? If so, it is working right?
  6. Do you have a spare carb? Try swapping it out and see if it runs any better.

ok so update the problem really was not in the carb it was mainly the fact that we all thought the fuel line was the correct size! I know how could we have over looked that as being the problem but we did just wanted to update what the problem was. With a big block the fuel line needs to be bigger than the small block. Needless to say we learned our lesson thanks for all the input.
