Hey guys
For you guys using windstar fans in your conversions, what fuse rating are you using? 30 amps? 50? 60? I plan on using 2 fuses in case one blows, i still have another fan. im thinking 2 30s, but let me know what youre doing
thanks!

I would like a single 50 amp would be ok. Are you planning on running duel Fans ?.
How are you wiring up the Fan and Relay ?.. One Relay per Fan ? and are you going to be running the Fans in parallel from a single trigger source ?
IIRC.. those fan draw a lot of amp's.. you might need a 50 per relay.. Also, make sure the Relay is rated for the amp's.

im reworking the factory windstar harness to allow me to have independent control of each fan. the lm7 pcm will be able to do this. So each fan will have a fuse and each will have a relay.
That way, if one goes down (OC, fuse blows, relay pops whatever), id still have one.
Im using maxi fuse holders and im using the stock ford relays from a junkyard
my gut is 30 amps per fan, but wanted to know what others are doing

Two relays for now, plan to move to three when AC is installed. Only one 50 amp supply for fans and one 20amp for both relay coils, grounds supplied from E38 PCM.

ok, so i was reading that the factory ford relay that controls these fans is rated at 70 amps. Thats both fans.
i think ill start with 2 30A maxi fuses. i believe one fan is bigger than the other so the bigger may draw more, but if it does, ill just replace the fuse with something bigger, a 40A.
i grabbed the factory windstar relay harness and there are 2 relays in there. one is the big 70 Amp relay for the fans and there is another bosch style relay probably a 30-40 amp relay. Ill make sure that that smaller relay is rated for what i need (one fan).
Should be good to go with that
