Default BRP Bind

I finally got around to installing the BRP rack & pinion kit and have run into major bind problems. I followed the instructions correctly but it seems that if i mount the rack and pinion further forward and downward it creates less bind. Any suggestions? Should i move it further towards the driver side (probably not)? Will post pics as soon as possible.

I know exactly what you mean, I ran into the same issue about a month ago. Then when I put the engine in I ran into anoher issue (power steering lines hitting alternator housing)

I'll be working on the car tomorrow most of the day, if you want to come over and have a look I'll steer you clear on what to avoid. I'm only 20 minutes from Katy.

How much did the BRP kit cost? Let us know what you do to fix the problem.

E-mail BRP for the cost of the kit and they can give you proces seperately or for everything together. I fixed the problem by lowering the whole system and angling it back a lil bit further. Im now working on forming the steel tube to shape and it a PITA. But once thats done the motor is goin in

yep, I had to lower mine 1/2" and angle it back a bit to work without binding. But, the damn tubes were hitting the alternator (f-body serpentine setup). So, I had to bend the tubes around myself and also cut a notch in the back plastic cover of the alternator. Fits now, but damn it is tight down there.

Nineball - https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps/151502-brp-nightmare.html In this post you took closeup pics for me of the steering shaft and rack and pinion. I was wondering if you were goin to leave the hole in the tube like it is in the pic or what you plan on doing about it b/c i have run into the exact same prob and will prob have to cut out the same sections. any suggestions?

Leaving the holes. I actually had to cut the upper hole a little bigger since then since I dropped the assembly lower. Dang U-joints were contacting the tube. If I were to do another subframe with this setup, I think I'd have just used larger diameter tube.

Still plenty of structural metal in the area, and underside of that K-member, as well as the other cross member a couple inches in front of the K-member. I think it should be just fine.
