I found it pretty hard to believe with the way people sweat primary sizing and whatnot but the dyno tells the tale...

That's for the silly people who swear by NA and have to resort to upsizing their header primaries and secondaries to search out every last 5hp!

I reused a lot of pieces from my old system, so I had to make some pipes butt up to existing stubs. Some of the v-bands were specific to the wastegate and such, so I had to reuse them instead of track down new ones. It certainly made the update cheaper than starting from scratch. I did make a new drivers side manifold, as the old one was the wrong side.

Moving the turbo forward just these 10 inches has really opened up my engine bay a lot, especially the passenger side.

Final weld.

Maybe Joe can school you on making pretty, Internet-ready welds. He seems to have that sorted out judging by his most recent steering system welds. Welding this kind of stuff is a PITA due to all the tight/curvy spots, imperfect fit-ups, and limitations of MIG.

Is that heater bypass hose going to work there? May just be the photos but it seems like it's in a hot zone.

My old manifold was closer than this one to the hoses and it wasn't a problem. This one I made sure to put at least a finger width clearance. Should be fine.
Everything is going to be wrapped as well.

So here's the current system and engine bay as it is now finished after the long winter build.
I've been showing and cruising it a lot and finding the limitations of cheap belt tensioners.
About to start on the new A/C bracket(3rd revision) and then dig into the interior. I've been on summer break but I've spent the last week or two on the DL due to some muscle issues.

I'm no welder by trade. I wish I cared a whole lot about making my welds "internet-ready". I'm learning a mountain of skills and information about building cars and that's what's truly important to me.
If I only posted internet-ready welds, I'd never post any pictures at all.

Another mandatory 20-foot shot...

Taking every opportunity to drive the beast while I still have summer to enjoy it.

Went ahead and bolted these in this weekend. They're out of a 2010 Hyundai Genesis. Got them at a pick and pull for $65/pair. Driver's side is full power adjustable.
Once I can find a center console from a new model Hyundai Santa Fe, I'll be putting that in there too.

Nice progress! Love the colour and the matching gold carpet. What boost have you been seeing and how awesome has it felt?

Ironically, I didn't pick the color of the carpet or the paint on the car. I'm in the process of changing the interior over to a black or charcoal variation.

I've been at 14psi for quite a while now. Eventually I'll get to 20 psi. I love where the power is at right now. It's all very usable and is still wicked fast at all driving speeds. My fear is that 20psi will simply destroy my tires, so I don't even know if I want to waist time with it at this point.

The boost is wicked. It's too easy to get to 100mph whenever I want.

And this is why you don't buy cheap belt tensioners.

Broken two of these. Replaced the duralast with a Gates finally. A much beffier piece. Probably should have done this a long time ago. Hopefully it'll stop walking the belt as well.

Thanks. I should probably go back and edit some things, as a few items took a different turn and I have an incorrect record of what I actually did.
The good thing is that I'm getting lots of seat time in it lately.

Haven't gotten into a whole lot with the car recently, as my job environment has looked a lot different than it used to and has eaten a lot of my time up.
I did end up eating my transmission right at the end of show season... so I'v been learning a lot about rebuilding my 4l80e and making it function even better than before... Also, manually downshifting is bad for the clutch packs...

Bought a new billet stall converter... should have that this week and get the transmission back in the car this weekend.

Also insulated my garage door so I can enjoy the winter build more...

Ryan,
Not to criticize, but I would turn up the welder and down on the wire. If it is as high as it will go, try using a propane or MAP torch to preheat prior. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the log welds break after many heat cycles.

Love the thread. Great score on the seats!!!@
