Project RIP IT- C-10
Been line bored= needs shorter timing chain
Been decked .0020 and will need shims
Will be bored and require a 3.80 piston.
Im done with that. Just to much money to put that back together.
On the hunt for a clean iron block. Ill get it checked and hope its all good, I want to assemble a non-machine stock block. With my current parts.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
My buddy found an iron 5.3 that he looked at and said it was a solid block. But he still recommending a light line hone and ARP main stud. Main stud kit is $269 (ouch) but after all my past issues and im now essentially saving $800+ on not buying pistons, I went ahead and pulled trigger.
So had a nice Bill from Brian Tooley Racing for:
-New Melling oil pump- 10296
-New LS7 lifters
-New LS9 head gaskets- 12622033
-New MLS exhaust gaskets- 12617944
-ARP Main Stud Kit (234-5608)
I will have to wait to get block back I imagine at least a week, need studs before he can line hone. So I have everything I need to re-assemble this motor except main/rod bearings which I can't order until I have block back and check everything for sizes.
We'll see if this new meticulous motor build stays together, and maybe I can focus on aesthetics and other things I'd like to do.
Spend a little time smoothing out the transition on my oil pump. Id like to smooth all of interior but I don't have long enough mandrels for my dremel.
Finally got my block back yesterday. ARP mains installed and line honed, cam bearings installed, and cylinder hone, and clean. Block definitely needs some exterior attention, but im considering painting the entire assembly this go around (block w/heads,oilpan, timing cover all installed) That seems to look really nice when its all painted at same time.
I need to get some measurements and call to order bearings to get my clearances where I want. Guy that did my machine work mocked up stock main bearings and its factory spec with plastigage. I need to be looser with boost.

After receiving the block back, I finally got around to doing all the critical measurements to determine the correct Main/Rod bearings. To make a long story short, I invested almost an entire day to research to figure out that they don't make a rod bearing to suit my situation, which is a .002 overbore and .001 undersize...
So now I need to buy a new set of unmolested rods to install my ARP bolts and be able to use basically any bearing heart desires at that point.
So my Main set will be an ACL 5M7298HX which is .001 under to achieve the clearance goal I have in mind of .0023-25 range
Rod bearing will be same .001 under size ACL 8B663HX
These are some interesting looking bearings... Almost look pre-SPUN for me lol

So I am ordering a std set and do half X half STD to tighten it up. So far 2 vendors I have attempted to order from have emailed me back after payment stating they weren't in stock and on backorder.
Finally Tick performance verified they had a set on hand and got me taken care of, so hopefully sometime next week I may FINALLY be able to get my crank installed.
