1993 S-10 Project Update
Nitrous passes were exactly a full second faster and a lot more fun..
I moved the pills up to a 200 shot for the last pass to see if I could maybe hit a 6.99 and my bottle went empty on me. Direct sunlight for over an hour and only got to 850 psi. HINT HINT
Still managed a 7.66 though.
Once I get the bottle filled, I am going to check a few things and remove the front anti-sway bar. Then get the bottle to right around 950 PSI, check tire pressures to 40 in the front and 12 in the rear, start it up and head for a NICE ***** out pass to hopefully hit the 6's. Funny part will be a friend of mine who is 300 pounds lighter than me is going to be behind the steering wheel...
If it hits 6.999 or faster, I think the price of the truck will go up roughly $500-800....
What is even funnier is I told the guy wanting to buy it that the purchase price does NOT include the nitrous bottle. He said that was fine!! LOL..
I actually want it to hit the 6's just to kinda stick it to some of the local guys who think $5000+ engines are where that 7 second range starts!!
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
It comes real close to being even cost wise, but the 8.8 is tougher and can handle more power/abuse than the 7.625 rear end will.
It all is kind of on hold anyways until I find out if this guy is going to buy the truck or not.
The damn R/T of this truck just flat sucks because of the 3.08 gears.
Woo hooooo
Time to see if I can get into the 6's!
It was NOT wheel spin either. It would hook and take off but the times were actually slower. 7.86 and 7.93. Motor sounded like it was running harder, but the truck was definitely slower.
It didn't hold on first 2 passes with higher horsepower pills. I changed them back and it worked great the rest of the day. Didn't miss a lick.
I just think it was too much for the current converter or trans. If I pull it out, it will be when it really slips. I am leaving the trans stuff alone for now.
Friend at the track offered to trade a drum brake explorer rear for my laptop. 8.8 open diff 3.27.
I know a local yard near me has 3.73 locker rear 8.8 drum brakes for $218.
In case no one noticed, it now has a 15 pound bottle in it. Traded my 10 pounder for it with a little bit to boot. Plus it was already full!!
I will have to weigh it on sunday to see how much it has left in it.
I kinda like the floorboard idea for the seat. no more smashing my neck to get my helmet on and look straight ahead. Although a couple pieces of plate aluminum would make a seat in no time. And I could make it to fit me!! LOL
And yeah, It should wake it up. I just hope it holds up like this one has.
