Yeah. The 8 second passes were on motor, but with a bump of nitrous to get to 8.50.. I usually am real consistent at 8.57-8.60..

Nitrous passes were exactly a full second faster and a lot more fun..

I moved the pills up to a 200 shot for the last pass to see if I could maybe hit a 6.99 and my bottle went empty on me. Direct sunlight for over an hour and only got to 850 psi. HINT HINT

Still managed a 7.66 though.

7.66 was just the pass I got on video. I ran a 7.57 earlier.

Once I get the bottle filled, I am going to check a few things and remove the front anti-sway bar. Then get the bottle to right around 950 PSI, check tire pressures to 40 in the front and 12 in the rear, start it up and head for a NICE ***** out pass to hopefully hit the 6's. Funny part will be a friend of mine who is 300 pounds lighter than me is going to be behind the steering wheel...

If it hits 6.999 or faster, I think the price of the truck will go up roughly $500-800....

What is even funnier is I told the guy wanting to buy it that the purchase price does NOT include the nitrous bottle. He said that was fine!! LOL..

I actually want it to hit the 6's just to kinda stick it to some of the local guys who think $5000+ engines are where that 7 second range starts!!

Those guys obviously dont know ****. Some of the biggest sleepers in the DFW area are LS based junkyard motors.

If I am remembering right, there are about 8 of us running 8.50 or faster with LS swaps and all of us on carb. I would be a ton more competitive if I changed the rear end gears, but I cant see spending $165 for a set of gears, when I can spend $220 on a complete rear end that is an 8.8 with drum brakes and probably already have 3.73 or 4.10 gears with the posi already in it. Only bad part is getting it narrowed to fit the S-10 and having to come up with the piece that fits the pinion for the driveshaft, or get an aluminum driveshaft for it. Most of the time those cost quite a bit more than a regular driveshaft.

Sounds like it would be easier to just get some gears...

its only a 7.625 rear end. I would also have to buy a master install kit for the new gears and that is another $100...

It comes real close to being even cost wise, but the 8.8 is tougher and can handle more power/abuse than the 7.625 rear end will.

It all is kind of on hold anyways until I find out if this guy is going to buy the truck or not.

Turns out I will be able to go to the track this sunday. I have to figure out if a friend of mine will let me make one pass with a hopefully full bottle to see if the 200 horse pills get me into the 6's. Then go sign back into 8.50 and get beat again!! LOL..

The damn R/T of this truck just flat sucks because of the 3.08 gears.

Well I don't have to borrow a bottle. The guy who does my filling has nitrous in so I can get mine filled sunday morning on the way to the track.

Woo hooooo

Time to see if I can get into the 6's!

Well, tried again with the 200 HP setup and it just would not get the power to the ground. I don't know if it was converter or trans, but it just would not hold this engine making that power.

It was NOT wheel spin either. It would hook and take off but the times were actually slower. 7.86 and 7.93. Motor sounded like it was running harder, but the truck was definitely slower.

I hope its not the tranny boss man. But you might have to pony up for a big time converter anyway.

It didn't hold on first 2 passes with higher horsepower pills. I changed them back and it worked great the rest of the day. Didn't miss a lick.

I just think it was too much for the current converter or trans. If I pull it out, it will be when it really slips. I am leaving the trans stuff alone for now.

Friend at the track offered to trade a drum brake explorer rear for my laptop. 8.8 open diff 3.27.

I know a local yard near me has 3.73 locker rear 8.8 drum brakes for $218.

Not sure if the rain will leave the track alone for sunday for me to run it again. If I do, it will be in 7.50 class on the bottle and I hope I have enough.

In case no one noticed, it now has a 15 pound bottle in it. Traded my 10 pounder for it with a little bit to boot. Plus it was already full!!

I will have to weigh it on sunday to see how much it has left in it.

I kinda like the floorboard idea for the seat. no more smashing my neck to get my helmet on and look straight ahead. Although a couple pieces of plate aluminum would make a seat in no time. And I could make it to fit me!! LOL

7.53 yesterday. Still hanging tough.

Mom is picking up the 3.73 rear end for it tomorrow.

I should be in Saturday to get it installed. Hopefully.

On my way home but stuck in texas until the morning. Went ahead and took a break now while at a rest area to avoid rush hour traffic. I will be bouncing out of here around 3 or 4 in the morning for the last 8-9 hours of my trip. Hopefully I will avoid all the rush hour crap by doing this.
