True, but the sbc can NEVER equal the power potential or efficiency of the LS.
The LM7 truck engine puts out 295 NET HP. Not a single sbc for general use puts out even close to that.
Even if one built an sbc with "modern" parts, it can never come close to the power and efficiency of the LS. The sbc is a dinosaur.
The LS even eliminated one major weak spot. The distributor/oil pump setup driven by a thin shaft that invited high RPM spark scatter AND/OR losing the pump due to gear slop/wear and the general weaknesses of distributors vs. direct coil ignition. A crank driven pump beats a shaft driven one all day.

I have a dozen SBCs and 4 BBCs in the shop and Im swapping in an LS. Ill sell ya one, what kind do you want.
