Do you have a rear sway bar in that car?
curious bc you are going to track it now as I have heard + & - as to if they are really needed... I heard stiff rear springs with 295 or smaller tires & they are not needed. Thoughts?

I have both front and rear sway bars in the 1970 camaro. The 67 Firebird only has a front one. I am running 245/45r17 in the front and 275/40R17 in the rear. Brought it to autocross just like I have it set up for the street.

BTW Here is the video from yesterday that I put together.

10-4 & thanks for the info. I’ve decided to put a 1” bar in the rear.

I don't think you will regret it. The sway bars made a huge difference in my car when taking a corner. After he said that to me, I was praying my camera got that. We all got a kick out of it.

Looking into installing 2 small electric fans on the 70 now, going to hook them up to a switch inside the car so I can manually turn them on and leave them on. I have some fans from another car thankfully. My main fan or relay died during track day. Wanted to overheat a lot.

Default Dual electric fans - 1970 Camaro

So I removed my 1 big fan from the LS1 Camaro that I had that quit working and installed 2 small electric fans that I had saved years ago from a previous project. Was able to tie them directly to radiator and had to reposition the trans cooler. I found a radio delete plate I could use and installed my cigarette outlet to it for the dash cam and a switch for the fans to turn them on and off. This way I can control them as needed at the track. I will update and post a new picture soon.

I ran a new nylon fuel line on the 67 Firebird, got the bracket situation figured out for the power steering and alternator. Randomly the brackets I was given was for a larger case 80 amp alternator. I got the steering column back in, I need to finish getting the gauge cluster reinstalled and other dash components. Unfortunately the radio I was given is not the correct one, so that will be an open slot for now. Supposed to get the rear axle assembly this weekend so I can get it rolling again. Been put off though the past 2 weekends of it not being finished though.

Trying to get the cars as far along as I possibly can, wife is ready to give birth to the twin boys any day now. The firebird project will more then likely come to a halt and be sold once that happens.

Anyone have any idea what I should expect to get for the 1967 Firebird 400 in its current state? I see rust buckets people are asking 10 grand for and this is far from a rot box. Thinking 15g????

Default pictures of fans, radio delete panel and wiring

fans threaded directly to radiator

delete panel with fan switch.

alternator wiring, very close to valve cover.

starter solenoid wiring, have to keep it tight to the block.
Attached are the pictures. The starter wiring is for someone else looking to see how it was done...

Been a long time since I posted on here. Not much time for cars though. Really only focused on my 67 Firebird 400 and a 98 trans am I picked up because it had a blown posi in the 10 bolt. So attached is the picture of the 67 as I had it transported to the warehouse to get the transmissions switched to convert it to a manual. I have not had any time to go over since I transported it before the twins were born. Twin babies is the real reason I don't have much time with my son who just turned 2. Although we play cars every night and he is learning his GM models. He also likes to say Daddy's car when he holds up his 70 camaro hotwheels. He also likes to say Daddy fix'n cars, go vroom vroom.

Well here are a couple pictures of the 67 as it was being loaded up. It looks really good and am pleased with it.

Realized I had not put up interior pictures and where I left off with the engine. Runs nice and sounds good for the 10 seconds I can run it. I will try and do a video.

Still working on interior panels and need to cut my rug for the 4 speed. I got some hoses awhile ago and need to get them to fit. Apparently heater hoses on these pontiacs are just bend as needed and really small? Also, trying to figure out this radio situation. Doesn't want to go through the dash and sit in properly.

Missing the sound of this engine.

Found out my water pump spacers to the block are leaking since I needed them to fit the LS1 camaro water pump to the truck block. So I am dripping out anti-freeze slowly. I want to eliminate the spacers. Has anyone used a LS3 waterpump with this setup. It is supposedly the same spacing; however, it looks like it will hit the alternator and I would have to move that. Are there any other water pumps out there that could work for this application. I have a truck pump but the top radiator hose outlet is also an issue. It would also hit the Throttle Body too.

Hoping someone else has some insight. Otherwise first thing in the spring will be to remove the water pump and apply RTV to the gaskets on both sides of the spacers.

I’m pretty sure there are 4 options for acc. spacing.

f body
truck
corvette
gto

not sure if any other water pump will line up with the truck acc. without an adapter.

love the car FYI!!

Actually only 3. GTO uses Vette spacing and offsets.

Just to be more precise, the f-body has two offsets based on year. 1998-2002 (LS1) has their own offset, while the 2010+ camaro (LS3/L99) has the same offset as the truck offset.

Right. Gen 4 Camaro has its own, Gen 5 shares with trucks

Default Father In Law Drove the 70 Camaro

So I got my father in law to drive the camaro. A guy who loves Carbs and BBC finally got a taste of LS power and EFI. On the plus side, he will still let me drive his daughter in it.

It’s good to let him feel a LS power. I rejected it at first, being a bbc guy too. A little 5.3L (06 Monte SS) changed my attitude and shown me the light. LOL. NOW ITSall LS power

Default Sister In Law drove it

I let my sister in law drive my Camaro. She has never driven a V8 car before, a camaro/firebird and an older car. So this was a big first. this drive also reminded me of why it is so important to share these experiences and that the years I took to put it together were worth it. Old cars bring joy!

l ended up having to remove the old sway bar, kept touching the exhaust and causing vibrations while driving along the road. Going to have to heat up and indent the exhaust pipes so it will clear without causing such a problem. Car doesn't drive that much different though with the rear being off.
