Beautiful car man. Your build has been an inspiration to me and very informative as well. I'm collecting parts for my lq4 4l80 conversion in my 65 impala. After reading your thread I saw Washington plates on your car. I checked your profile and saw you were in Spokane just like me. Small world. Probably seen your car around town before. Any regrets about your build? Holley pan and trailblazer manifolds working out ok? Thanks.

And who did your tuning? Have you ever heard about this 150tunes place? He's in the valley and advertises 150$ tunes for life. Free re flashes and stuff.

Awesome! No regrets about my build at all! I would be happy to help you along the way!
The best guy to tune your car would be Marty Stromberg. Send me a pm if you want and I'll get you his details. He's the best guy in town for this.

Not many classic cars look good in white imo, but I think white is the only color I'd want on a Impala like yours. Well done !!!

Default transmission

You didn't have any issues running the older transmission with the 07 e38 ecm on psi johns website it says you have to use a 07 or newer transmission

Nope, no issues at all. Drives and shifts perfectly. I'm as I mentioned, my tranny is a 1995. The compatibly issues applies to the TCU, which in my case is a T42 out of a different vehicle, but from '07. I had it flashed with the correct program to talk to the ECM, as my ecm was originally paired to a 6l80e with an internal controller.
I don't think the TCU cares what year tranny is, as long as it has the correct pinouts.

Hope that helps!

Default Driveshaft

I am going to be starting the swap on my 65 soon. It's a 5.3l vortec and 4l60e. What driveshaft did you use for your build? My car was a roller so I don't have the stock shaft

I also used my stock driveshaft, and had it cut to length and balanced. I used a beefier U joint to, as I adapted it to the 4L80E.

What I would do if I was you is get your engine, trans and rear end installed, and get your measurements. Then have a shaft built with the U-Joints that you need for your setup.

I finally finished the install of the VHX gauges! It's nice to finally have a working gas gauge and speedometer!
