Default 2000 s10/lq4

Hey for anyone interested in these swaps I figured I would share my current build. The truck is a 2000 S10 5spd/4cyl and very basic, the engine is an LQ4 from a 2001 Denali with a 4L65E. I didn't have any pictures of the trans rebuild and swapping it to a 2wd configuration. Everything was pretty clean for 120,000 miles on the teardown other than pitting on the cam and the cam bearings were pretty warn. I had the heads milled .030" for compression. This is my third swap so I was able to save some money by making my own harness and using hptuners to write the pcm. Ill make a list format of what Ive put in so far.

Felpro complete gasket and head bolt set
New cam, rod, and crank bearings
New sealed power Piston rings and lifters
Trick flow 220/224 cam
PAC valve springs
TSP hardened pushrods
CWP headers/mounts
H3 oil pan
Lokar trans dipstick (the last two swaps annoyed the hell out of me trying to get it to fit right and be able to easily bolt and unbolt it)
A/C fittings from Coldhose to make my own hoses and keep low mount a/c
Flowmaster 3" cat and 10 series muffler
Dirty Dingo Power steering pulley
2.2 Flexfuel pump

In the pictures I have some harness tidying up to do when I get my new loom, so ignore the visible wires.

More pictures. I plan on doing a column shifter swap after I find some more info on that.

I got the Y-pipe built, the trans dipstick in, the entire column swap, pedal and TAC module mounted and wired, and the a/c all hooked up and tested. I wont post many details but if you have any questions feel free to ask.

This pretty much what I have planned for my DD S10, when time allows.

Here's a few pics of the battery in place and ready to go along with some sanding and preparation for paint. The first start went pretty good other than forgetting to ground out the oil level sensor. It fired right up and caught its idle. Video on the way.

What do you mean? I have a factory pedal on mine and it works fine. I used a factory cable from a 94 4.3 vin W engine, and a throttle bracket from a Trans Am/Camaro. It all bolts together and works like factory.

Nice looking build OP

Thanks! And sorry for the late reply about the pedal...I cut the Yukon pedel off and just welded the s10 pedal on to the tac sensor part so the pedal sat natural in the truck

Very interesting battery placement. I'm trying to hate it but I can't. Low...passenger side...makes total sense. Maybe easier access to terminals to facilitate easier jumping..... but nice job!!

Not as easy as popping the hood but it's only 3 8mm bolts and the step pad. I also tested jumping it from the power distribution on the engine and it worked

Army Kind of got in the way of progress for a while but ill update a few parts I have on standby. My fan shroud came up a little odd to fit right so I ordered a custom one with spall fans in it. And to cut down on time I ordered a gforce crossmember.

Some have to cut for the oil pan. And also notched the frame on the passenger side to allow for the stock position of the A/C system.

As T72 said, the pan dictates much of your cutting. I went with the h3 pan so all I had to cut was the spot for the a/c compressor. That can also be avoided if you get a high mount(budget and tool dependant). I've always just modified the crossmember so this time I wanted to check out the Gforce.

Also flatten the body seam in the tunnel/firewall to save a headache down the road if you pull the trans. Lesson learned on the first haha

Finally got the upper radiator "holder?" Fabbed up and put in and that wraps it up for the most part. Explorer 8.8 rear end will be the next big step.
