LS swap in Gen 3 Nova Driveshaft question
So I have the stock 73 Nova steel driveshaft and the stock aluminum one from the 2002 f body donor car.
I plan on running 450HP on my LS1.
My worry with the steel shaft is that it won't be strong enough. Should I be worried?
Obviously the Aluminum F-body one would be cool to throw in there but will it be too short? Can you have them lengthened? Would it be strong enough?
Thanks.

Launching!
Compare the 2 driveshafts side by side and determine if the f-body shaft is as long or longer than your original steel shaft. If it is longer than the steel shaft, you can then have it shortened to the correct length You cannot lengthen a driveshaft without retubing it completely

as someone who just had a under $200 steel shaft fail last summer (ls1 67,carnage in my thread) I would love to go back and get a real performance shaft made the first time and save myself buying the new trans, exhaust, driveshaft and fixing floorpans... just a thought.

Anything can fail, I paid 160 for mine but i supplied the trans yoke. Had it now for 8 years. and Shortened twice, 20.00 each time for different transmissions. Ive put just about 50k miles in the past 2 years. Still rock solid.

I had a brand new 3" steel from Fort wane Driveline and it was perfect for 3 years, including several runs at the dragstrip and hard street miles @ 530 RWHP and it was perfect 5 seconds before it had its way with the underside of my car ...they dont give warning..
