Default fresh ls1 swap, shortly lived, ends in disaster

So, I've gotten my 240sx running with an ls1 out of a 99 Camaro after about 4 months of working on it. Running great, just amazing! Til this past Friday when I assume a fuel line burst under the hood and the unthinkable happened. Guess I'm on the hunt for some parts and tasked with building a new relay/fuse block as well as some Body work.

Totally sucks man! Hope it was at least insured. This is why I always carry a fire extinguisher, I watched my nova burn once, but luckily got it out in time to.save the car.

It was rubber hoses and clamps. I noticed some that looked old, so I was headed to the auto store for ball joints and fuel hose. Hows that for a day late?

Liability insurance.

Well, I was sitting at a red light and it died. When I started it back up, I heard a poof" and saw flames out of the pass window. I immediately grabbed my daughter and we egressed. So, I'm very thankful. We got out pretty easy.

The RC is pretty uncomfortable, but my pride and joy is the yz250f back there that's street legal with motard wheels and tires. Waaay more fun than that RC.

Dang dude!!! Well best of luck to you getting her back on the road. I was devestated when a jeep slammed into my old 240 Jeep walked away, 240 didn't.

I just sold my 2003 RC-51 with 7800 miles on it. Super uncomfortable bike to ride but handled like a dream and had immediate torque. Sounds bitchin with the dual Jardine cans on there also,

I had one also. Fun bike, sold it and bought a Hayabusa. Sold that on the way to Florida at a gas station. Long story. Miss that bike.

same exact thing happened to me. I had my built 5.3 swap in my 1990 240sx for 3 weeks when a fuel fitting broke and burned the front half of the car to the ground. I also got a careless driving ticket for it.

Looks like I got one upped on this thread, haha.

Update: I've state buying parts to rebuild. Still need a hood, headlights, car harness, engine harness and PCM. Then it's all paint and body work

Seems like everytime it has something to do with fuel fittings, or hoses.

I'll make sure to have an extinguisher at all times.

Only "cheap" fittings I have are some Jegs brand -AN fittings and those are only at the gas tank.

Fragola PTFE hose and fittings from filter to fuel rails.

Fingers crossed

I'm going all out this next time. I have already decided on PTFE hose and an fittings. No more rubber.

Sucks the car burned but the main cause of failure I see is your Regulator placement. I'm surprised no one else has said anything about it. That is WAAAAYYYYYYYY to close to the Headers. I bet a line there failed from Heat more than anything and it sprayed gas on the Headers and it burned.

That's likely the factory fuel filter mount. My regulator is in the same spot in my 300zx. Heat hasn't been an issue, but I put heat wrap over the lines and my headers are wrapped as well.

Always carry a fire extinguisher, especially in something you built in a shed. Hopefully the car will return better than it was.
