Thanks for the help n info..ur cutlass build is exactly what im planing on doing. Only thing is that i purchased the Holley alt/ps bracket hoping to get that "lsx" look. If i cant figure something else i will have to go your rout with a truck bracket. Thanks a lot for the info and great cutlass build.

Im sure im not the first and wont be the last to hope for the exhaust kit be available with or without mufflers. Could it be possible if enough customers ask for it?..maybe pass the word to those who could make that possible?
Kinda like with the accessory brackets. The option with or without ac compressor and alternator. Giving the customer options to re-use there existing items.

If you want to post critical fitment and groung clearance photos on this thread go ahead and post em' up so others can see comparative results. What trans are you using? The biggest issues I've seen with other headers for this application are ground clearance of the collectors and having to cut up the 4L80 trans case for installation in those applications.

I will snap a few pictures tonight if I get home before it's dark out. As for transmission, 4l80e. Ground clearance is actually pretty damn good . About level to your set of headers. Only cut I had to make was the passenger side for one primary. It wasn't too difficult but I understand if people do not want to cut the case. I did and even used it as a core with no issues.

these are the 1 7/8 version?
Hey guys. I've spent this past week installing and photographing the 1st-article samples of the engine brackets, headers and crossmember. There are subtle changes that have taken place between these parts and those that I posted pictures of previously and that was due to design variances and build tolerance discrepancies discovered between an early model Malibu we've tested the parts on and our Monte Carlo SS development vehicle. The changes made have provided better fitment on both the cars and I'll I can say regarding the build tolerances of these cars (and all others built in the same time period)is...holy crap. For those of you interested in the minute details of using these parts in your swap, I've formulated and attached a tech data sheet (PDF file at the bottom of this post)that pretty much lays it all out for you. It's 6 pages long, so crack open a bottle or two of your favorite brew and dive in. Here's the photo results of the last test fit session...all the important characteristics such as ground clearance and A/C box clearance are represented.

Great, you wouldn't happen to have pictures of the headers outside of the vehicle? I want to get a better look at the merge and collector. also do you recall if they have the velocity spike in the collector?

You can find an image of the stainless headers, which feature the formed merge collectors on the summitracing.com website under part number 2333-7HKR. The stainless headers also feature collector spears as where the mild steel versions do not; standard canister style collectors are used on the mild steel headers like you see in the install photos here on this thread.

Toddoky,
I have not forgotten to take pictues but I work a hour away from home and with the sun setting before I get home I have yet to get good pictures of my headers for comparison. I will do it as soon as I can, possible this weekend if it doesnt snow again....

Yes, please do. I've read your build thread to familiarize myself with your component combination and will be able to provide details of the differences of these two approaches for those who are interested and following this thread for technical data.
