The new Hooker engine brackets position the center of the crank pulley bolt 12-1/2" up from the bottom of the engine crossmember. Any increase in height above that provided by any other mount will also ensure that the 302-2 pan can be used...as long as the fore/aft positioning of the engine is in the same ballpark as that provided by the Hooker engine brackets

Is that measurement of 12-1/2" from the bottom of crossmember to center of the crank bolt correct? Seems like allot based on what i come up with.

You are correct 6togo, I pulled the height measurement from the top of the balancer and forgot to subtract half the diameter of the balancer later in the day when I sent you the dimension...the measurement should be around 8.75" to the center of the crank bolt.

Sorry to keep bugging you but with your mounts is the bottom of the frame to the oil pan mounting surface of the block about 6" trying to work all this out with my engine on the stand!

It's no problem answering your questions 6togo, but I've unfortunately lost my opportunity to take any more measurements due to the engine and trans having been pulled from our Monte Carlo SS project vehicle this morning.

It will be equipped with a 6.0L/4L80 combination, but I'm not sure what accessory drive set-up it will be set-up with. The geometry of the parts are configured to accommodate either an F-body or truck accessory drive set-up with the exception of the A/C compressor, which will be recommended to be taken care of by upper-mounting it on the passenger side of the engine with either of the Holley R4, or Sanden A/C compressor brackets. For the greatest ease of providing compatibility with the stock A/C system, the R4 is the way to go as you can raid factory parts (lines, condenser etc...) off a late model G-body and bolt everything right up.
I would love to see a pic of that when you get one.

I've taken quite a few photos already, so if you can tell me exactly what it is you want to see I should be able to post something up for you.

Glad to hear it...You're out of the gate and on your way to a good swap combination. What engine an trans are you planning to install?

What would be the best solution for using these mounts with a 4" crank. The way I see it notching the back of the k-member to clear a f-body plan would be easiest unless you have a better idea.

or would a Autokraft pan clear if you shimmed the motor slightly?

Since both the 4th-gen F-body pan and the Holley 302-2 pan require the use of a 3/4 length windage tray it's a toss-up between the two of which would provide the best/easiest accommodation of a 4" stroke crank...the F-body pan would require notching of the crossmember to use and the Holley 302-2 pan requires an extremely small pop-out section to be added to the bottom center of the pan to clear the rods on the front crank throw. I've already seen pictures of someone who's done the mod to the Holley pan and it's a piece of cake in my opinion. I guess it could come down to whether you like fabricating in steel or aluminum.

That Autokraft pan may just work as the front of the Holley 302-2 pan is 1.25" tall and there is approximately 3/4" between the pan and the crossmember.

I have an ls1/4l60e out of a 2002 WS6 T/A. Ditching the 4l60e for a t56 that I just aquired this week. It is also out of a 2002 WS6 T/A.

That will make a nice combo to install as all the engine accessory drive components fit great except for the A/C compressor. I know that the frame of the car can be notched to fit the truck A/C compressor, but I don't think you'll have the same luck with the F-body compressor. Holley does offer affordable upper mount A/C compressor brackets for both the R4 and Sanden compressors if you are going to run A/C.

I know. Probably going with the R4 set up to keep it simple and almost factory looking.

Yes, here's the good/bad report for the week...

The good- Production fixturing work on the headers is progressing on schedule and the final tweeks to the design of the crossmember following the FEA analysis have been completed to begin the push it into the production phase.

The bad- The first batch of production engine brackets had to be re-ran as the supplier botched the machining of the countersunk mounting holes. This type of issue is not uncommon for new products and should not cause more than a slight delay in their release.

I will be working to get our project car back together next week and will start posting more photos as I do.

I completed the test installation of the first article Hooker 1-7/8" G-body LS swap long-tube headers today on our Monte Carlo SS project vehicle and thought some of you would like to see some photos. The headers fit great, which now allows me to finish the production welding fixtures up and sign off on the design of these headers and move towards getting them released. Everyone enjoy the weekend.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]
