A little background on my project...It's a 64 biscayne that is at a restoration shop right now. The body work is nearly done, and I am going to have them install a 6.2l and 6l80e that I sourced from a 2012 Silverado with 8k miles. They will be doing the necessary metal work on the trans tunnel and cross member, then I will take it back and complete the rest.

Thanks guys, there is a lot of good info in this thread.

When it gets interesting, I will start a build thread. Here are a few body shop pics.

Winmon, I am really digging your car man! I Love that engine bay, and I've been studying the underside pics. I've always planned on hiding the coils, and that is a great location.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like your 62 is bagged and you were able to run your exhaust out the back. Can you tell me what size rear tire are you running?

Beautiful car. There's nothing better than a 62 bubbletop IMO.

Thanks! Coils are working out good in that location. Yes, the car is bagged and the exhaust does run all the way to the rear. Rear tire size is 20" (245/40).

Did you have to relocate the Shifter for the 6-speed?

The Magnum shifter can be flipped so the location is about 4" forward, that is what I did.

Question: Did you get that piece that bends and hooks to the bottom of the header from Hedman, or was the exhaust shop able to do that?

Those look like mandrel bends tied into the previous exhaust with a flex joint to me. I used mandrel bends on my car and they look exactly the same. Any competent exhaust shop should be able to duplicate the effort.

Thanks.

As I think a bit more about it, my larger concern was the way they hook up. They come with a sort of a ball at the bottom of the headers. I'm used to headers with a flat flange. And the bottom piece that hooks to that ball is rounded to fit onto the ball.

I presume that is common and can be duplicated, yes? Although, I just now zoomed in on the picture, and it looks like there is a weld line right around there, Maybe they had to cust off the bottom 'ball' from the short straight down piece and weld it to the mandrel been pipe.

Hey guys,

Brand new to the forum.

I couldn't find ANY info online as to exactly which Hooker LS engine plates guys were using in 58-64 Chevrolet Impala's. They offer "stock location", 0.5" forward, 1.25" forward, and 3" forward. Does anyone have any real world experience with these cars and which plates to use?

I'm running an '08 LY6 with a 4L80 transmission
