Default What fuel lines typically used?

I just ran new 3/8 steel brake line up to where I'd be putting the fuel filter/regulator. Looking at those now, I see the 'LS1 Kits' come with AN fittings, which of course the steel fuel line doesn't have. Going forward to the rails, I'll use braded fuel line hooked to the AN.

Have yet to run the return line.

Just wondering if I should just plan on running rubber type return line, and how folks are accommodating the connections to the filter/regulator.

BTW...considering getting the LS1 kit at Tanks Inc.

Roger,

I would use this kit:

http://www.purechoicemotorsports.com...rod/prd293.htm

The kit you listed uses Russell fittings which have caused major issues, like engine fires...there are several threads about them.

I would run as much hard line as you can and for the rest of the lines use Teflon lines braided stainless lines.

Question. Can't quite tell from the wording. Is Teflon lines a brand, or are you intending to say Teflon lined braided stainless lines? In which case I'd use braided line, and clamps to hook up where it's slip-on.

By Teflon lined I mean PTFE hose with a braided outside covering. You will need to either flare your hard line and use 37 degree tube nuts or Pure Choice makes some adapters that work with a 45 degree flare and convert to the AN 37 degree flare. Like these:

http://www.purechoicemotorsports.com...rod/prd263.htm

Forty five degree double flares are easy to do and most car guys already have the flaring tool.

Default Fuel lines

I have always used 3/8 brake line and barbed fittings. For a filter I use a 1988 Camero from Wally world. All rubber hosed of course are 3/8 fuel injection hose. I did use the Russell fittings but noticed they did not give a feel good click when they went on so I lock-wired them.

I presume you use an external fuel pressure regulator then.

I am running an equivalent to the tanks inc kit you posted but I pieced the kit together on my own.

C5 Corvette filter/regulator
Russell 644123 - qty 2 (use on regulator input from pump and input to fuel rail)
Russell 640940 - qty 1 (use on output of regulator to fuel rail)
Russell 644113 - qty 1 (use on return line from regulator to tank)
-6 (3/8) PTFE stainless braided lines with 37 degree JIC fittings swaged on the ends.

I brazed -6 steel AN fittings on the ends of my hard line on the intank pump assembly. Pressure tested to 150 psi with no leaks.

See post #56 for pictures.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...ers-etc-3.html

I think I have about $140 in the whole fuel system, not including the 255 intank pump, which I would have needed anyway regardless of which fuel lines I chose. Comparatively speaking, $140 is alot more than other people spent for an equivalent system, I just wanted the abrasion resistance of the stainless braid and I wanted the thread together EFI adapters which do not have the plastic clip that has been known to fail.

I also used 3/8" steel brake line. Here is what I did to connect my Corvette regulator/filter. 8 years and 30k miles and no problems. Using the Dorman piece, cutting it in half then flaring the the ends gave me a quick connect fitting for both ends. I mounted the regulator as close to the tank as possible so the rubber lines were short. Dorman makes a lot of fittings that can be useful.

Do you guys use the 3/8" steel brake lines from the tank all the way to the front? Where do you guys get the lines? Are the steel brake lines E85 compatible?

I ran CuNiFer lines from the back to the front.

I also bought the Wix 33737 from
Amazon Amazon

Russell Fuel Rail Fitting Adapters 640940 (3/8 in. to -6 AN)
Russell Push-On EFI Fittings 644113 (5/16 in. to -6 AN)
Russell Push-On EFI Fittings 644123 (3/8 in. to -6 AN)

With the CuNiFer lines you need to flare them to 37° and use a AN sleeve and nut.

Did you guys use the galvanized tube? Or was it something else?

The 3/8" lines should be equivalent to a -8 fuel line right?

3/8" is -6 AN

No galvanized tube. Either stainless steel, regular or CuNiFer

Oh that's right. It's a 1/2" that's -8. Do they make these lines in 1/2"?

Also, are all the hard lines E85 compatible?
