Default 5.3 vortec - intake needed

I am swapping a 5.3 vortec into my lemans because of hood clearance I cannot use the stock truck intake. Im having trouble locating a decently priced ls1 intake but I found a ls2 car intake on ebay thats reasonable... Is it true that I cannot use a ls2 car intake on the 5.3 vortec heads?

At the same time is there a cable driven ls2 throttle body beside the cheapo ebag ones? I used one of those for a megasquirt injection I had and the machined boss for the IAC was incorrect so im hesitant to purchase another.

Also if anyone has a ls1 car intake I am looking as well as the fuel rail and stock injectors.

If your truck intake is good and you want to get rid of it let me know.

It's not the intake and heads per se. They are both cathedral port so it should bolt up. The throttle body will hit the water pump if you are running the truck accessories with a car intake. Best thing to do IMO is switch to all car front accessories/pulleys/brackets. Then you are good to go AFAIK. Some guys have made it work by cutting and massaging and there are some relocation brackets out there..but you get more clearance with F-body front dress anyway so more room for cooling and such. Search for "car intake truck accessories LS1" and you'll be on the right track. I know you are asking about LS2 intake but you'll get a better starting point searching LS1 I think.

I just massaged said IAC hole in my Chinese POS eBay TB and it was only a few mins with a Dremel. Seems to seal properly and the depth on the hole to where the (moving part that changes airflow whatever the heck it is called) is exactly the same as my old factory TB so I am hopeful it will work with minimal cursing. Is there some other issue I am missing?

There are several mfgs of LS2-style(4-bolt) DBC throttle bodies out there. Edelbrock is one. Expect to may more than you expect to pay though. I am sure they are top quality but they are not cheap.

I am using an ls2 intake, injectors and fuel rail on the 5.3 in my 59 El Camino. Using a 2010 Camaro water pump, stock 5.3 DBW TB with a CBM adapter plate. Easy and works great.

That's interesting oldecmech.. I don't have much experience with LS3 stuff but since I am working out my LS1--LS2 stuff I have been told that the LS3 accessories are truck offset. Are you confirming that by saying 2010 Camaro water pump lined up with the rest of the truck accessories?

Thanks.

Yes. Gen5 Camaro offset is the same as the truck.

Do your homework on this. I am pretty sure there are two accessory drives for 5th gen Camaros. I bought the one for the automatic Camaro. It is the L99 engine. Here is a tread that may help.https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...pump-pics.html

Part number 19207665 is the water pump for both the L99 and the LS3 in the Camaro applications. Same water pump. I am using it with Kwik Performance accessory drive for power steering, alternator and air conditioning compressor. Good quality parts at a good price. Easy to set up and looks great.

Interesting stuff. Is the LS3 water pump any sort of improvement over LS1/2?

What year is your lemans? That's odd that the truck intake will not fit.

Just that it lines up with the truck accessories, clears car intakes and has the fitting for the hose on the driver's side (a little more like old SBC placement). llorracs93s10 has a thread that has pics of it installed and the PN of a top hose that works perfectly in G-body cars. Depending on engine space it may or may not work for everyone.
