Lets start page 14.
Thanks..... The filter pictured is an Air Raid 701-456, the cone on it is 7" tall plus the flange length..... It is not the filter I am going to use, just one I had on the shelf I used for mock up..... I have an R2C Black Hex and a pre filter on the way that has a 9" tall cone plus the flange.....

I am going to see if I can stay with the flat hood, If I need a little more clearance I will probably go with a Comet GT scoop.....

Welded the air intake tube in this morning and moved the tans cooler more to the driver side of the radiator opening..... The I trimmed the stone guard to clear the tube and bolted it back in place..... I had to clearance to bottom of the grill a little to clear the tube and I got the grill attached..... I set the hood in place and it's looking amazingly like a Comet again.....

I also got my trans shield yesterday.....

Here is the progress from today.....

I went ahead and bolted the bumper on this morning to make sure everything was going to line up properly..... The I took everything back off so I could cut filter clearance in the stone guard, reinstalled the stone guard and grill to see how the filter clears(my new filter comes Monday, I need to check the fit with that on)..... I also marked up the first pieces of aluminum for the exhaust pipe, I'll take the to work tomorrow so I can cut them and get them tacked together.....

Here's the car with the bumper on and a couple showing the filter clearance.....

Worked on the core support area this morning..... Got part of the new tube center support bracket made and welded in..... The new filter came this week so that has been test fitted, had to trim some more out of the stone guard for the extra length.....

Here is today's progress.....

Worked on the core support bracketry some more today..... Got a lower mount for the lower valence, still have to make the upper valence mount..... Also made and attached a slotted bracket for stone guard/grill vertical adjustment, still need to make the bracket that attaches to the stone guard/grill.....

Here are some pic's of the progress.....

Worked on the next piece for the aluminum exhaust pipe(I have to fit each piece and then take it to work for welding since I do not have a tig)..... Next I made and tacked in place a deflector for the stone guard(just enough to keep water from going directly across the top of the bumper/stone guard directly into the air filter pleates if it rains while driving..... Next I started making the front support/dzus mount for the hood.....

Here is a couple pic's of the exhaust pipe so far.....

Here is the deflector for the air filter.....

and here is the progress on the front hood support.....

Awesome workmanship as always. What are the details of the new filter? Inlet I.D. lengh, etc? (I'm gonna be looking for a shorter one soon)

Are you gonna fill in some of the filter area you cut out from the old filter? I assume after you cut it out, you decided to go shorter.

thanks,
Jim

Thanks..... The R2C filter that I am using is a 4" inlet - 10" overall length - 9.07" filter length - 6" diameter at the large end of the cone - 5" at the small end of the cone.....

The first AirRaid filter was 2" shorter filter length then the R2C I am using..... The extra clearance beyond the top of the filter is the room needed to remove the filter from the tube.....

Frank,

Is the hood hinged in the rear or will it be lift off style?
