Phase 1 done Nothing elegant-just wanted a reliable 996 .One goal was to stay away from the Jegs and Summit catalogs -so far so good .All the emissions stuff is hooked up and working, as well as the cruise control .I may tackle traction control this winter as well as the a/c .
The cooling system is working fine ,which was a concern going in .The intake is fugly but is running about 15 degrees over ambient which isn't too bad .
Phase 2 is upgrade the 5300 heads and cam ,it would drive a lot better with a higher rpm motor .
The only thing I don't like is the numerically high final drive ratio -but have not found a justifiable solution yet .

I was wondering how your transmission is handling the power levels now with the 175 shot. I saw the picture of the tire, that's impressive!! You will need to put a billet side cover on that the transmission. Since the spider gears sheared, it got me wondering what would have happened with a LSD in place. you would have snapped an axle me thinks.

For the guys out there that did electric power steering is anyone running anything else other than the RH conversion kit or standard TRW pump? Came accross this pump on Fleabay that is used in Volvos that is pretty cheap and similar to the TRW design. Unsure on the specification but don't see why it would not work unless the fluid is completely different or much lower power output.
BTW, what size AN fittings and hoses are used with the RH kit? Is the high pressure and return both 6AN or are the different sizes?
