Check the post right before that one(#200). And no, I didn't get a longer cable. The standard one fit...barely

Andrew - Here's a couple crappy pictures I could get with lighting. If there is anything specific you want, let me know:

Got the drive shaft. Looks awesome:

However, it's not going in. It's like 1/4" too long. I measured it correctly, and once I can get it past the mounting flanges on the rear-end, it will fit. But I'm not sure how to make that happen

@Project GatTagO Andrew - did you have to use a pry-bar to compress the CV joint to get yours in?

Thanks

Does your CV have some movement in it, fore and aft, or is it the non-plunging CV?

Pretty sure there isn't any movement. At least by hand. I gave the measurements to the driveshaft shop, asked for a CV end at the front.

Thanks to @Project GatTagO , I'm good to go. Turns out I wasn't thinking at all. He asked if the rear suspension was at ride height or drooped. Immediately, I thought to myself, "I'm an idiot!" Put the MaxJax up, lifted the car maybe a few inches and the driveshaft slid right in. THANK YOU!

Anybody know what the torque specs are on the u-bolts for the u-joint? Also, should I get new u-bolts? Mine look like they may be the originals from 1966.

Started measuring out for rear wheels / tires. This is a 295/30/19 (a buddy had a tire laying around):

Still have more room on the inside. I was gonna go with a 315 on an 18" rim, but I'm not sure. I need to get my hands on a few tires to get the right measurements.

I put the rear wheels I have now on the front. They are 245/45/18s on a Torq Thrust II with 4.5" backspacing. I put it on the front left. If I turn all the way to the left, the outer edge of the tire rubbed the rear of the inner wheelwell at ride height. If I hit a bump, I'd be totally hosed. I haven't aligned the car yet. I know people run much larger tires than this. Any ideas? I know I probably need more backspacing.

One step closer. If I never have to put carpet in a car again, it will be too soon. Because I enlarged the tunnel, put sound deadening and a layer of 3M Thinsulate, have a console, put in a roll cage, and are using aftermarket seats, the replacement carpet didn't fit very well. Passenger side took several hours. Somehow, the driver's side went in easier. I forgot to take pictures of the Thinsulate, but here is the "final" product.

Driver's side:

Passenger side. I cut out a bit of the front since I'll be putting a front woofer in a footwell box:

Seats:

Next is to finally mount the rear seats. They're a pain in the tail because they got a little wider after the upholsterer covered them in matching material as the front seats.

Got the new tires in. Needed to get them in order to size backspacing. Looks like a, 11" rim with 6" backspacing will work for the rear. I was concerned the diameter might be a little small. However, If I go too much larger, I'm afraid they may contrast the front too much. I think they're just about right. 315/30/18. Thoughts?

That's a lot of meat back there...
What size are you using on the front? I'd like to see the comparison between the two..

Did you tub the rear end? The reason I ask is on my 1967 Chevelle I have mocked up my buddies 17x9
with 5⅛ back space with 275/40R17 tires and only have an inch on both the inboard and outboard sides.
I believe you're just short of 2 inches wider...

I'm not really comfortable with anything less than than an inch on either side

245/40/18 is going on the front.

Yes, I mini-tubbed the rear. I used the frame narrowing and minitub kit from ABC Performance

You're telling me. This build has taken WAY too long. But it's getting close. Thanks for the comment on the console

Getting closer. Before having the rear window installed, I took it down to be tinted. Light tint, but ceramic for heat and upholstery protection.

Also figured out the issue with the power steering / hydroboost. Apparently, the reservoir I am using is not designed for hydroboost and a little too small. I ordered a hydroboost specific reservoir with two return inlets as well as baffling. A little hose modification and it should be good.

Yesterday, the wet-sanding up to 200 grit was done:

Today, first round of polish is just about done:

Should be finished with polish tomorrow. Then, it's just a small list:
- New hydroboost reservoir
- Final rollcage bar above the package tray
- Rear glass install
- Hood vents
- Hood trim
- Hood locks
- Trunk interior re-install
- Stereo tuning
- Test drive
- Exhaust

List seems a little long, but shouldn't take more than a couple weeks. I am getting so excited!!!
