It's fine if you got the brackets a little. I plan on cutting them up anyway. I want a back up pair incase I screw up. I want to move the leaf springs right up against the rail to get a little more room for wide wheels.

they look tobe in ok shape. only gouged at the rivet holes a little bit. most of what you see is dross from the rivet head.

lemme know f you just need the mounts or the hardware and shackle/hanger thing too.

I'm guessing $30 or so shipping?

Perfect! All I will need is the front mounts. I'm converting the rear to sliders.

Currently searching for a tubing bender for under $500. I want to get started on my frame ties/tranny crossmember.

I have used the woodward fab one and it's great. you can upgrade it to hydraulic later on too.

the bender is only 300 but the dies are nearly that much each...might be worth call in a favor from a machinist

That's the one I was originally looking at until I found the Pro Tools MB-105HD and JD Squared Model 32. They seem to be better quality/more heavy duty for only about $100 more. The Pro Tools bender is $449 and comes with the stand, degree wheel and handle. The Woodward is $299 plus the $99 stand. The Pro Tools is all 5/8" material vs the Woodward with 1/2". The JD2 boasts heavy duty pins and frame along with anti spring back, which I believe the MD-105HD has, too. They each have there pros and cons. All can be upgraded to hydraulic. I don't know if I want to be cheap now and upgrade later so I can get back to the truck or if I want to save up more and get the expensive one thus delaying the build even more.

I'm confused. So did this turn into a full dual rail tube chassis deal or what?

No, it will still have stock rails. It will just have a tubular tranny crossmember/frame tie. The core support will be tubular and it will end up with a cage later on. The reason a tube bender would hold me up is because I'm gearing the chassis completely toward street strip and giving it strong drag racing characteristics. It now has a motorplate and a midplate, I will be sliding the motor as far back and down as the stock firewall will let me.

So I moved back to MA January 30th and have had a bunch of time to do some stuff to the truck. I decided to start my tubular radiator support. Had some tubing and ordered some tabs. Using the stock location.

I made some hoops to hold the headlights.

I have some small tabs that will be welded on to mount the lights to the hoops. I need to make another set to hold the bottom lights.

I then decided I wanted to use the top tray from the original rad support for my top so I cut the spot welds.

I also welded in 1 inch square tubing under the lip of the tray that will be what the uprights are welded to.

Completely stripped the interior and glass. Minus the side glass.

Got a set of 29x4.5/15s for the front. Decided to polish the wheels before my dad mounted them at work. I think they came out pretty good for blowing them off and running a Mother's Powerball over them with Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish.

Finally got my pieces for my homemade CalTrac bars. First guy, who was a "friend", dicked me around for a few months. Second guy barely responded to my emails. Third guy, who is a member here, hooked me up with them. I traded the old wheels, gas tank, and radio for em, which I think is fair cause I was quoted 125 from the second guy to cut them.

Just got done welding them up about an hour ago.

Thanks! I'm hoping to get the uprights done this week.

EDIT: After rethinking it I will wait till the cab is done to do the uprights. Just incase the cab height changes.

My dad and I made some spacers for the heims on the front of the spring. Started out as a solid 11 inch long piece of 1 inch OD T6-6061 aluminum. Made four 0.825 spacers with a 3/4 hole for the bolt.

None of this is tight, the gap will close when its actually bolted together. We still need to make the top limiter bar that hits the top of the spring to stop the wrap up.
