'71 Chevelle LS480/TKO 600 swap
Here it goes, day one of ordering parts......
A little background on the car
1971 Chevelle SS 350 4speed with a 3:31 rear gears manual steering and no A/C
I've had her since I was 17, many good times with car shows and cruses. But life= wife, kids, house, farm......(wouldn't change a thing) have left little time and money for fun upgrades. Now it's car time!
Build
-GM LS480
-GM harness and computer
-SST TKO600 profit
-Moser 3.73 gears and axles
-Tanks Inc. fuel tank and electric pump
-exhaust 2 1/2inch
Need to lock down and would like input on these items as their are many threads and many option that I'm trying to wade through.
-LS radiator ??
-Cooling fans
-Oil pan CTSV or LH8 from BRPhotrods??
- Motor Mounts, Dirty Ding??
-Air Intake??
-Powersteering (box,pump,revisor)
- Low profile (most are very bulky looking) Alternator P/S bracket
-Fuel Lines
-
I'll get some pics posted in the next few days. I have more parts to order in the morning.
I'm pumped to finally start the build. Oh and I like drinking craft beer so if you get off topic I hope it's about something tasty.
Thanks in advance for input and help

If you are looking for suggestions, I would not swap out the 3.31 quite yet. I have a 3.55 and would really like to have a 3.23 or your 3.31 ratio. The deep first on the TKO will give you a good launch, the 3.31 will be very highway friendly.
The current design Holley pan seems to be the best right now.
A Grand Cherokee steering box is the way most of us have gone, works awesome.
I used a Northern LS swap radiator, but there are many other options.
Of course this is all a matter of personal preference. There is no wrong answer, some are just more expensive than others.

We're in the process of LS swapping our A-body car. Our UMI P/N 4008 motor mounts lined up very nicely and with the Holley 302-2 oil pan there's plenty of clearance everywhere. It seemed like that oil pan was a must have, so I highly recommend it. For cooling - we used Wizard cooling.
You'll almost definitely need alternator relocation! What's popular for the alt bracket? We're running into clearance issues with alternator and the Delphi steering box.

Here's a list of item that I plan to use for my swap. Might be different on you application and budget plays a major factor as Oldgoat69 has pointed out.
-Griffin Radiator 8-00009-LS (Universal A-Body LS Swap Radiator)
-Some Dual Ebay 10 inch Fans (Other have used the F-body fans or Ford Windstar)
-Holley 302-2 pan (Originally had CTS-V pan but liked the look of the Holley pan)
-Dirty Dingo Sliders (other options but I'm running a 4L80e so wanted flexibility)
-Airaid’s “U-Build-It” Kit (Spectre also makes a CAI)
-98 JGC Box
-Dirty Dingo Alt/PS mount
-Braided Fuel Lines from Summit (Most will recommend going PTFE if you do use Braided)
If you have more questions there is a A-Body swap guide

They told me with the 3.73 I'd be at 1800rpm 65mph and 2200rpm 75 mph
Compared to the 3200rpm at 65mph it sounds great, but I'm not set on anything yet.
Do you have a part number on the Northern Ls radiator ? The distributor I called was trying to sell me a race application because he couldn't find one listed.

UMI Pro Touring LeMans. Sorry for the delay, I don't wander into the conversions pages often. That link is updated every time we make a little headway. We are finishing a T56 A-body crossmember, then setting the car back down to finish alternator relocation. Then back up for fuel to be ran!
