93' Fox twin turbo 6.0
Started on my twin turbo build this week and thought I'd share it with anyone interested. This my first build thread, but not first lsx swap or build.
Little background on the car. Bought it last January from my brother-in-law who had owned it about 17 years. It had a fairly stock 5.0/5-speed combo in it. I sold the entire drivetrain for 1100, so was now only into the car $900 bucks, pretty happy about that. The original swapped in parts included the following:
Lq4, arp rod bolts, BTR springs, custom Tick turbo cam, head studs
4l80e, pro-built automatics street/strip kit, HD2 shift kit, FTI billet converter
Built 8.8 rear end, moser axles, Detroit pro locker
AJE k-member and perches, coil overs in front.
SN-95 front and rear 5-lug disc brakes.
Misc: gauges, tubular a-arms, fuel system, manual rack, caster/camber plates, etc.
I planned on doing a turbo right off the bat, but it just didn't happen. I drove the car like that from February till about August. I didn't want to down the car in the middle of summer to do the turbo, but I was pretty bored with the lack of power. So 1 weekend I swapped in LQ9 pistons/rods, 799 heads, and a Tick Polluter cam. This netted me about 10mph and .8 in the quarter. Car ran low 12's at about 113-114 at a DA of about 7000 feet with this setup. The stock sn95 brakes would only hold to about 2k rpm, even with a 4k stall, so my 60's were in the high 1.7 range, not exactly impressive.
Now to the turbos. This is a fairly low budget build. The motor will get the lq4 pistons and 317 heads put back on to lower the compression. Other than that, just rod bolts and head studs, valve springs and custom cam. The rest will consist of:
Twin on3 70mm turbos
Truck manifolds
38mm Emusa wastegates
50mm BOVs
CX Racing intercooler
Dual 320lph in tank pumps, -8 feed, -6 return, 120lbs injectors (leaning towards running e85)
So here's where I'm at so far. The engine bay will get cleaned up when the motor comes out.

Custom mounted the pumps. When I drop the tank to add the second pump I'll take some pics of how they're mounted. Essentially just a round plate with a rod welded to it to clamp the pumps to. The pumps are made by High Flow Fuel. Actually 320lph, just realized the brain fart. I've used them in a couple of cars now and had much better luck than with Walbros.

The goal with the car for now is 140 in the quarter up here at altitude. My WS6 did upper 120's and my R1 did about 135, so I have to improve on those. Don't really care if it runs 9.0 or 12.0. It's just a street car so the hard pull is more what I'm after. I'm guessing it will take 7-800 horse to get it done.
I've seen the on3 setup, looks nice. Just can't bring myself to shell out the money when I can build something myself and keep the stock tank.

Well, in true first build thread fashion, I completely slacked on updates. The car has been up and running since about April. Ended up with a few little changes from original plan.
-Kept the LQ9 piston/rods in it to keep the compression ratio up at around 10:1
-I did end up going with E85 fuel
-Swapped the 3.73 gears for some 3.31's
-Installed a 10 point cage to keep from getting kicked out at the track
It's been on the dyno once but had some bad heat soaking issues. It was about 100 degrees in the shop and the owners Port-a-cool fan wasn't delivered in time, so no cool air to blow over it. It did 657rwhp on 12 psi and 14 degrees timing. So not too bad considering the poor conditions.
I have about 8 or 10 passes in the car over 2 days this summer. Best so far is a 10.24 at 142 on 14-15 lbs. This is off the foot brake, leaving on 2 psi and the rear tires rubbing after the 1000' mark. Roughly 7000' DA. 1.68 60'. So lots of room left for improvement.
Overall. I'm pretty happy with the results. For a pretty minimal investment and having done all the work and tuning myself, I can't complain.
