Guess you are sealing the windshield shut then since it would be really hard to open with the wipers there! Just a place for a water leak anyway.

I have the same wiper system in my car and they work okay, but are a little "twitchey" if that's a word. You have to keep that cable greases up really well, which is a pain in my car because it's behind the interior panel at the kick panel. I pretty much rely on Rain-X most of the time!

Yep sealed windshield. The wiper system is ALOT of work for what will probably be used very little. I'm with you on the Rain X. I'm anxious to get the cable ran and power to the motor so I can see the blades move. The car is very slowly coming to life one component at a time.

A small but cool item. Picked up a restored license plate yesterday at the local swap meet. Going to let the body man make a home for it in the rear valance.

Dash work continues.....Had some stainless washers cut to dress up these switches and start button a little bit. I like the details
1937 Ford Sedan-keqrbsw.jpg

Trying to run some ductwork for the AC. This hard plastic will hold a rivnut. That idea allowed me to hold some of this stuff better than sheet metal screws
1937 Ford Sedan-jelliol.jpg

A couple of rivnuts and some brackets allowed me build a frame work for the 2 center vents. Built some end pieces to seal off the bottoms of the 180 adaptors.
1937 Ford Sedan-ee44xx0.jpg

The dash skeleton shows where the 2 dash center vents will insert directly into these 180 adaptors when the dash is installed and there will be no duct hose. This great idea can from Bill Arnold thank you sir!
1937 Ford Sedan-nrobul0.jpg

All this still has to fit somehow!
1937 Ford Sedan-klkyt8l.jpg

Progress but a long way to go. I talked with a shop this week that will probably be my choice for paint/body. More on that later.........

Eric I started thinking about your comment about the wipers being "twitchey". I had noticed my cable didn't feel completely free in my horse shoe piece that I had bent even though I didn't go tighter than the recommended minimum bend radius. Even though I couldn't see any kinks in the tubing, it measured like it was oval instead of round by a few thou. I worked it with a plastic hammer and got it a little better. The wall thickness on the aluminum 3/8" tubing that they send in the kit is .035". I found some 3/8" copper tubing that is .028" wall and made some tooling to get the bend smoother. It did the trick and now the cable is nice and free before I even grease it. Thanks for commenting and making me think . When I actually get them powered up I'll report back, but I think they will be improved over what I had.

Dash work continues and it's just a big puzzle. Not that many post worthy items here.... just build brackets and make it all fit. Bill Arnold calls it creative packaging 101. I really think it's an advanced class

Fits on top of wiper motor.
1937 Ford Sedan-hfuckff.jpg
There may be a better way to do this, but I'm just lining the inside of the firewall with some plate so I can add some thickness to drill/tap/mount some components.

I mentioned earlier that I picked a paint & body shop to do some work. I'm waiting patiently in line and gathering stuff for them to install. Found some cool license plate lights and picked some 39 Ford tail lights to be frenched in the rear fenders.

Rev 1 mock up console was made with leftover brake line. Rev 2 is shown below with leftover fuel line. I'm not sure what else I have laying around but I need to make rev 3

I had to back up and redo several things. I should have figured out the defrost vents much earlier but I didn't. I know I'll appreciate the 4 vent AC system with 2 defrost vents , but it's been a challenge to make everything else fit behind the dash. After I redid the defrost ductwork I had to bend all new tubing for the windshield wiper cable. The wipers run quite and smooth so far....fingers crossed it stays that way.

One step forward, two steps back sometimes when building a street rod! But hey, progress is progress!

Console frame done. I'll finish it out later later but I needed to know where it was going to live to work out some details with the heater vents and the dash extension. There is nothing straight or flat on this car so I continued the theme of curves and compound angles

Reference for completed dash pictures below. This was the beginning of trying to get everything to fit.
1937 Ford Sedan-wlnbzyh.jpg

Just a mock up steering wheel. Wifey dragging her feet picking out a new one .
1937 Ford Sedan-zaghhfy.jpg

Nothing wired yet but all the components fit nicely. LOTS of stuff back there!
1937 Ford Sedan-0s9sfzy.jpg

It's a little plain on the passenger side...probably add a little something over there.

Wow I hadn't seen a lot of your progress, feels good to be caught up. A lot done and it looks great. Nice job on the parking brake.
are you painting the dash or having it hydro dipped? How a bout a smaller piece the shape like you have around the gauges with a clock in the center circle to balance both sides? Or pin stripes something like the shape of the gauges? It's all looking great, nice work.

What megapixel cameras are you using? While it does suck waiting for the pics to DL . It’s great to be able to zoom in on a particular spot of a photo and be able to see it. Really clear.

keep up the great work

Saw this car this weekend at a local show. Thought for a minute that you had the car done and were holding out on us! LOL It was a super nice car, and an obviously new build. It had a Ford small block in it though....

So, I'm going to need you to finish this thing so I know all the ins and outs on a '37. Found this over the weekend and am seriously considering building another car! It's a pretty solid car, and the price is right...

Eric looks like a cool project to me! As of yesterday my shop is currently empty . I've been waiting on the call from the body shop, The national part shortages worked in my favor last week as the body shop had some cars that were hung up on parts so mine got in a couple months early woo hoo!

Dash out, motor out, wiring out. Put the shell together to get ready for some steel work and some glass work. No paint yet. Going to drive it ugly and get all the bugs out.

Awesome! Did they give you any kind on estimate as to when you'll have it back? If it comes back fairly quick you may be able to assemble it over the winter and be driving it next spring, no?

Also, I can say I have never seen a locking hood ornament before, that's pretty cool!

Eric no exact timeline at A&R, but they were already working on it before I left . Yes we are on the same wavelength about Spring/Summer (fingers crossed). One obstacle for me personally is that I'm having foot surgery in January and will be down for a while. Once I'm through that I'm hoping to not have many issues during assembly. It's great to have access to you and others on this forum for LS questions when I get into those unchartered waters. I'm headed back to A&R next week to mock up some side mirrors and I can't wait to check on the car. It is SOOO weird not having a project in my shop!
More soon.....
