Default Consensus or Verdict for Shallow 6L90E Pan?

I've read quite a few threads on quite a few sites about what pan ended up being the best fit as far as depth for the 6L90E. I know there are a few options for the 6L80, but at ~3.3 inches for the 6L90E, the pan just hangs way too low. I think that most have decided to use the G8 pan and add to the front to cover the extra space on the 6L90E pan.

I assume sectioning the 6L90E pan and using a G8 filter is more cost prohibitive than adding to the G8 pan and using the G8 filter, but I'm curious if anyone has come up with anything else.

I had also seen some info on the Corvette pan, but I have not seen anything conclusive about the depth and it comparing to the G8.

That is the only method I have seen for a 6L90 shallow pan. I have not seen any other way of doing it or anyone making such a pan. Then again it has been a few months since I have been looking. There are people making after market 6L80 pans, so you might call some of them to see if anything is in the works.

Thanks for the input. I'm looking at a couple of options including the aforementioned G8 solution, modifying the existing pan to the G8 height as I'm a little worried that the added material won't be true causing leaks and the third being grafting the bottom of the G8 pan to the top of the 6L90 pan. I know there probably isn't much difference between the first and last option and I'm assuming the second option is the cheapest way to go.

One other thing I'm trying to figure out is the impact of the reduced capacity of the Trans pan causing premature failure of the trans. I'll have a trans temp gauge on it, but wonder about the impact.

I ended up having the front of the 6L90 pan grafted on to the G8 6L80 pan. I thought I took some pics, but apparently not. I'll post those tomorrow.

Here are some pictures of the modified pan on the car and in the car.

Side by side of the depth difference.

How did you keep it flat during welding? was it bolted down to spec while welding? curious about the flange straightness.

Great!!! lot of research and finally find a solution to the 6l90 oil pan.. but did you use the g8 filter also? What about having less oil to have a proper oil temp? maybe and external reservoir to add those extra qts?

how much less deep is the g8 pan?

Thanks!!!
