Square body lsx swap help Hey everyone I need a little help with my swap. Im in the middle of getting my carb'd 370 into my 87 k20. I have the motor in the truck and the transmission and transfer case hooked up. Im now at the point of trying to get the factory oil pressure gauge and temp gauge to work.
Where does everyone put the sensors and what adapters does everyone use. Also how does one go about hooking the alternator up to the factory truck harness.

Equus or Autometer adapter to use your K20 oil sender,I would drill and tap the right side head for the K20 water sender,but likely can't be done if the engine is already in the truck,most guys use a rad hose coupler and mount the sender in that.As for the alternator,there are a few options depending on which one you have.

Allen bolt is on rear passenger side head, but its to small to allow your original sender. On my swap I drilled/ tapped on top of water pump. Oil sender can either be on top in back on Ls engine, or little by-pass cap driver side oil pan. On mine I took cap off drilled/ tapped it with 1/8 pipe thread tap. Hope this helps.
Allen plug on rear most corner of passenger side head. Obviously need a adapter to put a regular sending unit into it. Drill and tap the water pump like mentioned also works.
Drill and tap the oil cooler adapter on the drivers side of the oil pan above the oil filter, remove the factory sending unit and install bushing adapter to put the sending unit of your choice into that place.
Last swap i did i did not have room to tap the oil cooler adapter due to header clearance and i did not have time to wait for the adapter bushing to put it in stock location. I cut apart the stock sending unit, drilled out the center and tapped it to the size i needed essentially making it and bushing.

I found that autozone has a single wire temp sensor for a 04 2500hd. My factory 1986 is also a single wire sensor. If I get a sensor for the 04 will is operate my gauge correctly?
