Thanks for the quick reply. When will the exhaust be available?
The 3" version of the 2-door system will become available first right around April 1st, the 2.5" version of that system and the El Camino/wagon systems will work their way through production behind them as the schedule permits.
Do you have any pictures of how the exhaust mounts to the car? Do you use a body muffler and tail pipe mounts? Is there drilling/welding involved for the mounts or on the system?

Yes, I have pictures of the hangers and how they are attached to the car and will be glad to post them up for you on Monday.
Since many of these cars have considerable value, we thought it was important to design the Hooker exhaust systems to attach to the vehicle using stock existing holes in the frame. I designed new hanger brackets specifically for this application and they use the same frame holes that the stock hangers attach to.
Two of the frame holes in the El Camino/wagon/4-door applications need to be drilled 1/16" larger than the stock size to accept the tailpipe hangers, but it's not a noticeable modification.
There's no cutting, drilling or welding required to the systems themselves to install them.
As I mentioned previously, here's a couple of photos depicting the attachment of the hangers from the Hooker 2-door A-body exhaust systems to the car...all the holes used are existing factory holes.
Still on track for a late March availability for the coupe/2 door 3" exhaust kits?
Yes, that's the plan and the ability to hit that mark is going to depend on our own production abilities and those of a supplier to deliver the specific hanger brackets on time.
Are the butt clamps we talked about a few pages back used everywhere or just at the header collector??
The muffler clamp looks good. How does the tail pipe mount attach to the pipe?
This is a pic of oem Pontiac gto tailpipe mount that uses a single bolt that screws into the top frame hole. Are you using a similar bolt with metal screw type threads or using bolts/nuts through the frame?
Chevelle oem use a mount that the fastener goes into the top of the frame rail that has a L bracket that hangs off the side with a rubber strap. Hopefully they have the two small holes the Pontiacs did.
The A body frame is a PITA for fitment. Not only are the frames different Chevy to Pontiac to Buick to Olds. They had about 4 different manufacturers making frames for EACH one of THEM.

The double-ended coupler clamps are used at the header collectors only; all other positions use band clamps on O.D./I.D. slip connections.
The barbed hanger rods on the system that engage with the hangers on the vehicle are welded to the top of the tubing (like they are on all model car systems are from the factory) for a clean under-car appearance.
The tailpipe hangers are attached to the frame with two 1/4-20 bolts/nuts on each and they are slotted to allow for final adjustment of the tips so they protrude from under the bumper an equal distance. The factory holes used for attachment, as seen in the image above, were present in the frame of all the Chevelles used for development as well as the GTO that was used also.
I am switching from column to floor shifter as part of my LS1/4L80 swap. I believe you can choose between tranny mount and tunnel mount florr shifters. My question is whether the 4L80 fitment with the Holley forward engine mount swap system will accomodate a tranny mounted shifter?

I would need to see a photo of the actual shifter you plan to use attached to a 4L80 to be able to assess that for you.
This one is for you Andrew...here's two images showing the clearance of the 3" over axle tubes above the axle on the El Camino/wagon system. These are the same tube assemblies that are used on the 2-door system and the clearance is the same. The car is sitting at stock ride height.
Can anyone comment on the proper choice between headers with the 1 3/4" primaries vs. the 1 7/8" primaries? My application is for a LS3/480 with the forward position mounts.
Also, do the headers clear a standard LS3 starter or is a mini starter required?

You'll definately want to use the 1-7/8" version of the headers with an LS3; the stock starter is usable.
