It's slowly crawling along. I've been working on everyone's car but my own lol. Hopefully I'll post a lengthy update after TX2K & TXMILE events. I'm always slammed this time of year.

More parts came in

Hey free shirt

Finally weighed the sound deadening and "over panels", and I was pleased with the savings. Most likely another 5 lbs in the shop vac and a bit more unaccounted for

No more flux core

Replaced the rear seal

Pulled the engine again to get the clutch installed, trans bolted up and final prep on the bay done

Pilot bearing installed

Clutch installed

Heater core ports tapped

Why are you blocking off the heater hoses?

i'm not running a heater and I want as much room as possible on the passenger side for the eventual turbo/piping, as well as a better aesthetic. I've researched quite a bit regarding whether its good or bad, and honestly it seems like its one of those topics where you'll have 50% saying, "don't do it, it will make it run hotter" and the other half saying it won't affect it. If it ends up having a major negative effect than i'll put some barbs back in and run the 180 degree dayco hose i have. The tstat i'm using is a 180 degree too so i don't honestly think i'll have an issue

Fair enough. I am of the school of thought that you need to loop the hoses (or have a heater core) and also have a restrictor. I've done this on all my swaps and never had a overheating issue, even in a RX7 with a very small grill. Just a datum point for you.

Right, i've read about the concept of expected flow over the tstat from the in/out of the heater core ports, and it makes sense in theory, but i figured i'd try this, and if i run into cooling issues then i'll definitely revert back which is why went with the taps/plugs vs having them welded. I'm expecting my setup to be pretty efficient through incorporating the larger radiator, high cfm fans and the constant de-aeration from the surge tank, plus the lower tstat should compensate from a potential 10-15 degree increase from blocking the heater core ports. we shall see

Well, clearly you know what the **** you are doing, so maybe if this works for you I can be one of the people that says "hell with the heater hoses."

Looking forward to more updates!

Lol I've actually never done any of this before, i just try to research the **** out of each step before proceeding which is why its been taking so long. I'll almost a year into this! I did approach this as a self-inflicted crash course on all things car and figured i could screw up things on the "cheap" before approaching similar things on the vette

Thanks man!

I just had my first child a week ago so i haven't gotten much done. However some of the grandmas came over a couple of days ago, and I did manage to get the clutch slave cylinder fittings swapped over and bolted onto the trans

Suggestions to improve the seal or another fitting?

Swapped out the dipstick as the stock fbody one wasn't working with the manifolds, plus its pretty stealth

Wrinkled up the thermostat housing and blacked the steam vent line

Bolted the trans up to set the final engine mount location and mockup the trans crossmember

Core support had to go. Up and over is for the birds

Gave the trans tunnel the ol one-two shiatsu

Tick brass shift cup isn't quite fitting, probably will need shaved a bit or pressed in

ASCO rear sub frame swap kit

Power steering AN fittings

Also started my welding cart to get my welding skills good enough to install the rear sub frame kit

Big thanks to Project Gattago for the new clutch bleeder fitting

Awesome to see another Z31 LS swap. I am about 50% done with my Turbo LS1 swap on my Z31. Project was on pause for over a year to build a LS1 S10 truck, then some work on the new daily, but now I am back on track. I just pulled the front chassis harness to strip out what I dont need and do a wiring tuck, and what you did is basically exactly what I have planned. So it is nice to see that you did that! What all did you decide to eliminate from the harness?

Keep this going! There will be 3 Turbo LS Z31 cars on this forum by the end of this year it looks like!!! Awesome work for your first build man. Z31 love!

Thanks man, I appreciate it!

I pulled out everything except the horn and lights including the relay box, which ended up being quite a bit of wire. From my last post, you can see i'll need to adjust the routing as i removed the core support and previously had it running through it, but it shouldn't be too big of a deal. I've also considered redoing much of it to prevent having the cross over section.

I'm in contact with another member on hybridz who is doing a 5.3/4L80E swap, not sure if he's going the turbo route though. There's another member, nismo kid, (he's on here, but i believe his build is on hybridz) whose fab work is looking sick
