I'm using the MuscleRods (BRP) mounts and Cross member in my 72 Nova build. So far they have been working well but I've always read people have had problems if you mix and match parts between different kits (ie; One company's mounts with another company's cross member or if you fabricated your own mounts and bought a cross member).

Before these, I did try the dingo sliders. These sit the engine up higher and do not provide the adjust-ability, but I like the position as it allows for more flexibility to the pinion angle.

disclaimer: my car is not yet road worthy.

Pretty sure the 1st gen Camaro/Firebird are basically identical to Novas as far as swap kits go. I got a screaming deal on a complete swap from a guy that gave up on his A-body project, which included BRP mounts, crossmember, and the LH8 pan. BRP was super cool and exchanged the A-body stuff for the first gen F body mounts I needed for a small fee. The BRP mounts place the motor high enough to use the low mount F body alternator, and it looks like the low mount compressor will clear, too.

I really like the kit except for the oil pan ground clearance. I'm not lowering my car, and it looks like it'll be okay, but I'd still rather have it tucked up above the subframe. There's a pic of the oil pan droop on my build thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...67-camaro.html

If I pull the motor in the future, I'll probably swap it for a Holley pan. Just want to get it running with as little cash outlay as possible at this point.

I also have longtube headers installed now, and the pan sits just above them. The $219 ebay headers work great with this kit, btw. Full disclosure: my project is not on the road yet.

What accessory drive are you using? Don't let anyone convince you that the Camaro/Firebird and your Nova are the same from a swap geometry perspective other than the fact that the subframes are interchangeable. The floors of the Nova are higher, but the tunnel height is lower, which means your transmission and exhaust system installation experience is going to different than for the F-body guys. You need to get your engine as low in your subframe as possible to end up with optimized U-joint working angles and the Hooker 12618HKR engine brackets and Holley 302-2 do a better job of that than any other pan/engine mount combination.

Take the belt off for what reason? A free spinning a/c clutch is not going to rob you of any horsepower.

When your a/c is not running (ie clutch not engaged on it) then it is free spinning. It's just a pulley spinning on a bearing. Basically no different then an idler pulley.

Yes any compressor you buy will have a clutch that free spins when not engaged. When you turn your a/c on then 12 volts is applied to the clutch to lock it up and turn the compressor.
