In to see how long the tranny and clutch live...or just how mercurial traction is for this thing. LMAO!!! Love the idea of this but you sir, have your hands full. I had one of these cars and I thought more than once about this very swap. Hat tip!

Sounds pretty tame - with the mufflers tucked up behind the bumper and the tame exhaust note, people won't know what hit 'em when your car disappears in a cloud of tires smoke!

Congrats on the work thus far, definitely looking forward to some videos of this thing on the road.

This is awesome!! We think you should do a Johnny Knoxville style senior citizen costume and go around racing for pinks.

this is awesome, and I know at least the ecotec f23's can hold some power, we're pushing well over 600whp and 500+wtq through 2 of them (and we run em hard) and so far no problems after a year

Here's another video. This was meant to be a "1320video" style video but I broke the car too soon. I was doing a practice pull before shooting the video and broke an axle. This one was much stronger and violent when she let go. I was at 6 grand in 2nd and just let out the clutch, getting back into it in 3rd. Snap, bang, bounced off rev limiter, coasted to try to find a good place to park to get towed back home. Looks like I have to go a little bit stronger. Too bad I didn't get any moving shots on video.

Why'd you break down?
Too much power - snapped an axle.

I'll take that any day! Love the swap!

That's pretty awesome. I would have to imagine that the reason he broke down was a broken axle haha.

Great Job!

Have you figured out where the axle broke? In the Fiero world, I have seen the splined shaft for the tripod housing at the transmission twist off (inside the differential), axle shaft itself snap - normally on the side with the shortest shaft), as well as twisting off the splined shaft at the CV housing (where it goes into the wheel bearing).

The reason this is import is so when you look for an upgrade you can ask about what is different in each section to make it stronger. If you twisted off the tripod housing, getting stronger axle shafts won't address the issue.

When you put high power into a light duty FWD drive line, it is best to not use cheap autoparts store axles. Stock GM tripods, axle shafts, and CV housings are much, much stronger that the cheapo knockoffs. If you get rebuilt axles, make sure they use OEM GM components, or are high end purpose built axles.

Thanks for your advice, always appreciated!

My passenger side cv axle is a shortened Cardone brand with a welded on sleeve. So far I've been doing a good job by not creating too large of a heat affected zone on the base axle material, but the weld chamfer itself has fractured. Next attempt will include some plug welds through the sleeve to get some more weld surface area interacting with the base axle material without making it super weak. I really didn't expect this thing to hook as well as it does on 205 Fuzion tires.

My goal is to get at least one good video in Mexico before the snow falls (sounds like some odd weather for Mexico ), then redo the whole front subframe with w body hubs and suspension to get some big steel on the front end of this thing.

Cool project. The Saturn GM should have built. I should have kept my beater SC2
What are you planning for wheels and tires up front?

Are you running the really long passenger axle, or an intermediate shaft + axle setup? With enough effort researching axle lengths, you might be able to come up with all the axles being stock parts as GM has lots of axles in various lengths.

I'm running an intermediate shaft + stock saturn cv shaft on the passenger side. Man oh man does this thing torque steer.
