GM oil pressure sender to 1/8 NPT thread

Hey Guys,
I have a 97 12 valve cummins swapped into a 2003 Yukon XL. I'd like to keep as much of the factory cluster working as possible so I'm trying to use the GM oil pressure sender from the 6.0 that was in it. The threads look to be 5/8-18 or M16x1.5...could someone confirm which threads they are? I need to adapt this to a 1/8 NPT thread to mount to the cummins oil pressure port.
Is there a different GM sender with a smaller thread that will provide the same voltage / psi as the sender I have now?
My alternative is to take a 3/4 NPT plug, drill and tap the M16 or 5/8 threads (1/2 NPT plug would only have .050" wall thickness after threading), then take 2 to 3 adaptors to get it down to 1/8 NPT...I'd rather avoid the laughs I'll get when I pop the hood and people see a tower of NPT adaptors.
Thanks!

There is a lot of meat on the GM senders and they are aluminum. It would be pretty easy to turn it down and use a die to male 1/8" NPT threads. Or you can just use any universal senders. The 3 wire 5v senders all have linear output curves. Like this:

Thanks for the response Andrew. I may end up turning and threading the GM sender. I read on the yellowbullet forum a post that says the GM sender has a different voltage / psi relation than the link you posted. LS1 oil pressure sender is .5v = 0psi and 4.5v = 130psi. The link you put up shows 0 and 100psi for those voltages. Is this other post wrong? Or does the 6.0 have a different sensor?

If I get a random voltage/psi range, then the gauge on the GM instrument cluster won't be right...right? I'm planning on turning and re-threading the carquest oem replacement sensor I have...hopefully it doesn't void the lifetime warranty it has.
