Default Tranny Recommendations

Planning an LS swap build...looking for recommendations on what overdrive tranny to use, but prefer staying away from electronics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Turbo 350 or Turbo 400. But you would really like a 4l80e for the overdrive!

Your options become limited when you take electronics out of the equation. You either have to go with a 2004R or 700R4 which both require a TV cable and can be sensitive to calibration. I think you can get a manual valve body for a 4L80e. Unless you are carburated, I say bit the bullet and set it up with computer control.

cant get any easier bulletproof overdrive than a 4l80e

Thanks y'all I'm leaning towards a stand alone EFI (Holley Terminator or Fitech) and wanted an overdrive for the drivability, but it looks like you can't have your cake and eat it too in this situation. Thanks again for the help.

Turbo 400 and a gear vendors overdrive will get you there but it isn't cheap.

Depending on which Holley setup you get, it can control the trans.
Don't waste your time on FITech.

The stock ECU/harness is more than enough for most people.

One thing to keep in mind with a non-electronic OD trans. You'll need a cable TB to control the TV cable on 700R4, 200R4.
Later GM DBW ecus don't have IAC to run a cable TB. I believe the Holley does though.

+1 for stock harness/ecu and a 4L80! It really sucks replacing 60e's because your not smart enough to plan things out the first time. Trust me. My 80E is now on the floor, and I am redoing my harness, converter, and driveshaft because 60's break like fine china.
