Default Holley Dominator or Hp?

i have a cam only 6.0 th400 with brake and 2-step..i"m having a real struggle trying to decide if i need the Holley Dominator ls or if the Hp ls will suit my purpose...my biggest concern is the 2-step and brake working with the hp...i have called holley more than once and i dont get direct answers..i get lots of talk that seems to confuse my feeble brain! lol..instead of yes or no!!! i dont really fault them as they as sales peeps keep pushing the dominator setup...soooo i would like some feedback from guys that have or have had either of these systems...hopefully some that have used them with both a 2-step and brake...i'm not worried about the need for future expension as far as nitrous or turbo (although i will certainly listen to those comments too-to learn) the holleys are on sale until the end of the yr so i need to decide soon..i will be using the stock type f.i. not the carb style (if it matters on the capabilties).i have even thought of using the digital dash they have but thats some money i might have to spend later...thanks for taking the time to add some input to help me decide..thanks!!!

It just comes down to how many inputs and outputs you need.

HP is limited on both. Dominator has a ton. If using a VR style speedo signal (like factory t56) then the dominator is required. If you want a second wife and. Dominator is required. If you want to have electronically controlled trans. Dominator is required. See the trend?

I think for what you listed you could make an HP work. But if you think it'll be close or expansion in the future. Dominator is a solid setup!

I recently went through the same thought process. Was also considering the MS Gold setup. Ended up ordering the terminator (complete dominator package). It supports everything I have and what else I will add down the road. The Holley days sale was enough to make me think it was worth it given the discount. I also got the 7" dash

Unless you are needing to control a 4l80E I'd go with the HP. Shoot me a PM with your setup and exactly what you are wanting to do and I will go through all my Holley stuff when I get to work in the morning.

If I can't answer your question I'll ask my tech rep.

Holley's support does suck right now. The way it was explained to me it's because Holley keeps buying up EVERYTHING and now they have to give support to all the other products with the same amount of people.

Dominator for sure. Nearly everyone can use up the inputs/outputs on the HP. Pay once, cry once.

Having gone with the HP, I wish I had spent the extra money on the dominator.

with your set up now the HP will do everything you want. But later down the road...

I believe either can do a 2step. Just takes some setup.

Good news if you do go HP and want to change later, it's a simple change between the two. Same plug configuration etc. just dominator has more plugs.

rk holley is having a sale until yr end..summit/jegs everywhere including their site..check your vendors! i'm prob not the best guy to ask the difference question to. they both use the same software..the dom setup has more features built in (ie trans controller etc)..same harness too...

The Terminator kits include the 3.5" display so that you don't need a laptop for tuning. The ECUs that are used in the kits are the same as the HP or Dominator and if you wanted to tune with the laptop at any point, you can do that. The software and firmware are exactly the same.

Both the HP and the Dominator offer 2 step and trans brake functionality. I don't know the number of I/O that is required for a trans brake. Two step requires one input. The HP offer 8 total I/Os, 4 input and 4 output. The Dominator I think offers 128, 68 of each....The other benefits to the Dominator are DBW (single or dual) support and automatic trans support.

I think the HP will do what you want, but as others have said, it's nice to have options for down the road. Things like NOS, boost, etc...eat up I/Os fast.

The 7" digital dash works with both and does not eat I/Os as it is connected via CAN bus.

Can you store multiple tunes with the HP ? Is the dominator easier to tune, I heard the HP has more screens to work thru.

Multiple tunes are only in the Dominator. The tuning software is the same for both.

The Holley forum typically has some pretty good info as well. They have to work on the customer support but with as popular as their efi is I think it'll get there

All this is true, but on the other hand, many people don't take the time to actually read the various documents that Holley provides. Like this one for example:
