Default C4 corvette

I got one question; will a LS1 clear the hood of a C4 corvette with an LT1?

I'm stuck between swapping an Ls1 into a 3rd gen or a C4 vette. Any help would be great, thanks a lot guys.

yes it clears just fine.....

The swap is a direct bolt in, no fab work needed. Its unbelieveably easy to work on in a c4 chassis. I can pull the motor in 30 minutes on a lift. Last year I literally did head gaskets in 1hr 10 minutes on my lunch break.....almost too easy...

wow that looks nice.

Being 16, its a pain to get a fast car with cheap insurance, so I was gonna go 3rd gen camaro or C4 wit an LS1. Looks like the C4 may be better. Do I need to get different motor mounts? what about the electronics and such? Thanks for your help.

Nope, direct bolt in using street and performance motor mount plates ($80) and stock c4 motor mounts....

Electronics? well the dash harness etc is fairly independant of the engine harness. Cut out the engine harness, and the interior wiring/lights/everything else runs on its own seperately...Used a painless wiring harness for the engine...

Plan on spending $5k doing the swap including motor/trans

Btw: dont do a 3rd gen camaro if you can help it, the c4 will weigh minimum 500 lbs less, it hooks better, and is a better basis for dragracing/road racing applications

MAC 98-00 LS1 headers...

I cut the collector off and added my own piece of 3" pipe on them, they bolted right on.

Which you can see in this picture on the bottom after i had them ceramic coated
