I talked to Reed over at Work Turbochargers and he recommended the BW SXE-69mm with the twin turbo stage 1 cam or the LJMS stage 1 turbo cam. He said this was a pretty simple setup for 600 to the wheels. He said if I want more power I can always upgrade to the S3E-7473. So lets see what this setup will do.

If you buy from Work, please post your experience. They are very close to me...

Here's how we did the turbo setup on my '69 Chevelle with stock manifolds...
http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=52976

it is a Gen4 5.3 with ported heads, baby cam, and Precision GTS76 billet wheel BB turbo. I'm shooting for around 900rwhp on kill. Your engine being Gen3 I would keep under 600rwhp for longevity sake due to the weaker rods.

Sharpe,

I sold the 5.3 and decided to go with a naturally aspirated Gen IV 6.0, 823 heads, custom cam from Cam Motion (224/236 .595/.595 112 + 3) and a 4L80 with a 3200 stall. I talked to JD Race who is a member on the Olds Forum and with his advice I rebuilt my Pontiac 8.2 BOP with Moser axles, Yukon posi, 3:73 gears and a TA Girdle. The car will never see the track so the 8.2 should last me for awhile. I am trying to decided on what 1 3/4 headers to go with since I got the Holley GM A Body forward bias mounts. I bought these mounts because I did not want to have to cut up the trans tunnel to fit the 4L80, but it seems like the only headers that will work with my setup and have proper clearance is the Holley Headers which are around $1K. I did see good reviews on the Speed Engineering headers, but they only work with the engine in either the stock mount configuration or with the Holley rear bias engine mounts. In order for them to work on my setup it looks like I would have to put a couple of dents in a couple of the front exhaust pipes. No biggie. Other than that just waiting for the paint shop to call me back to let me know to bring the car in for paint. If you have any questions or need any help please let me know.

Sharpe,

Two people that come into mind who can give you some great advice in regards to our cars is Jarhead and Mr. Bu. Both are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to early GM A bodies.
