1967 Chevelle Malibu LSA/4L85E Accessory Drive?
Good Afternoon,
I've decided to convert my 67 Chevelle to an LSA/4L85E and have learned much from the folks on this site. The biggest area I'm struggling on is what accessory drive to use as I'm running a Hydroboost brake setup and classic air setup on my car currently and would like to incorporate both into my LSA setup. It's a new LSA from GM and is without any accessory drive. So far I have learned that the Holley 20-160 (low pass mount Sanden SD-7) item will work but I'm stumped on which bas GM accessory drive to start with as there are a few options it seems. There's another forum member KWhizz (Ken) that did a killer job on his 66 but I could not find part numbers listed or I just missed them? Since I'm running Hydro assist brakes I need a Power steering reservoir that has dual returns and Jones racing seems to offer a nice package including pump but any help on what accessory drive to start with would be much appreciated. I should mention that I'd like to stay with oem parts where possible as I'm not one for high dollar bling pulley sets and especially the price associated with them.
Thanks, Jos

On the PS return hose(s), can't you tee them together before the reservoir? They are not under much pressure at all.

Hi G Atsma,
I tried that when initially installing the system in the car and the brakes weren't very happy with that method for whatever reason. Once I modified my power steering pump reservoir by adding another return everything came together. Just trying to do it correct and cleanly the first tim with this one since the LSA connect and cruise package is likely the last time I'll replace the drivetrain in the car.
Thanks, Jos

Thanks Toddoky,
I think it was your post and fab work where I learned of the Hooker headers/mount components for the A body. If so, thanks for the great work as that is the product I've committed to. I read the article to the link you sent and it makes sense but I could not find the item numbers they referred to? Maybe they are hidden

Glad to hear you've decided to use the Hooker components. A Chevrolet/GM parts source like Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center could probably build you a parts list from that article if you were to forward it to them I bet.

hey man,
I believe what your looking for is called the "lsa modified fead" they also sell an additional bracket to low mount the a/c.
look up a member here named 'korndawg'. He is swapping a lsa/4l80e into a 72. I know it's not the same generation a-body but he is using the 'modified lsa fead' from GM. He even used the a/c bracket.
I plan to drop the coin on the whole system here soon. I am swapping an lsa into my 72 lemans right now. I plan to use the new GM 4l75e instead of the the 80/85e though.
good luck.

Sounds to me too much effort is being made to low-mount the A/C compressor, when there are relatively inexpensive brackets to mount it on the upper passenger side so no frame notching is needed. Is there a downside to such mounting?

Since he's decided to use the Hooker A-body swap components, he won't have to deal with any frame notching to low-mount the A/C compressor.

Ah! OK. I hadn't looked at that particular swap and assumed the low compressor was an issue in all early A- and F-body swaps. My bad.

1967 Chevelle Malibu LSA/4L85E Accessory Drive?
Good afternoon Gents,
After much thought and research I decided to go with the LSX Concepts LSA Race Drive accessory kit. I was sold on the idea of using an 8 rib Serpentine belt which offers more belt wrap. The other nice feature is that this drive kit also will allow for pulley changes thus increasing boost (re-tune neccessary also), but a nice option anyway if I decide 560hp isn't enough (unlikely) The kit is also a high mount setup which is not my favorite looking but will certainly make for a better time if service is required. The Engine/Trans arrived yesterday I'll provide a parts list I used after I confirm this all works!

1967 Chevelle Malibu LSA swap progress with added pics
Well, here's the latest progress on my 67 Chevelle LSA 4l85e swap. All is finished with the exception of plumbing the air intake. I'll have a complete parts list used in the next week. I added pics of the exhaust work using the stock cast manifolds which fit nicely with some trimming on the outer flanges to allow frame clearance.

Thanks, the exhaust all has 1/4" or more clearance at the tightest areas near the frame. All fits well👍

1967 Chevelle LSA/4l85E Conversion
Latest progress on the 67 LSA conversion. Just got it back from paint and now scheduling a dyno tune to wake up this combo. Connect and cruise is a bit of an understatement as this lsa was in low octane mode and pulling out timing on the first run. More to come soon.
