Looks like the pic got flopped. Unless you have RH drive, and you're English and never told us... lol

Great job! Do you have any pictures of the accessories on the engine? My friend is hoping to put a 5.3/4L60E in a 1980 T/A and has heard the accessories (Alternator especially) was challenging, needing fabrication.
Thanks

I believe I talked to you in a Pm about this^

Sorry Guys, I really need to get my notifications working. It’s irritating not knowing when someone replied to this.

so the car has been a lot of fun, but a total pooch for all the work I’ve done. Dynoed like 275whp on a dyno jet and runs 13.9@102. Pathetic. All my other cars with less mods run 11’s.

The car car has no pull after about 4K rpm. Finally decided to pull it apart and Check it out. I suspect the cam was ground incorrectly, very advanced or something. I Checked and it was dot to dot, I Che Jed the crank gear dot to key relationship and and cam gear dot to dowel relationship and all Checled out good.

I pulled the heads off and sent them to the local machine shop to be milled to bring the compression up to about 12.5:1 and had ls1 valves installed, 5 angle valve job. I’m rebuilding my old ws6 ls1 motor and will be installing it in this car. Degreeing my old cam in the old motor to check it before I pull it, to see what’s going on. Also ordered a trans brake for when I want to drive it 🤣

My 862 heads are done, just picked them
up. Valve job, he profiled the throats, cut the intake seats for the new ls1 valve, and cut .040 off the deck to put me around 12.5:1 comp. Running the new Yates gaskets that improve cooling to chambers. Also picked up a .015 ship kit for the valves. Going to assemble the engine tomorrow hopefully.

Degreed my cam yesterday, it was in fact 7 degrees retarded, explaining the lack luster performance the car had. Got a timing set on the way to cure that.

Trans brake ahowed up yesterday from Jakes Performance. Pumped

Finding out the cam degrees were off was a good thing. Now you know. I'm going to be putting a cam into a spare 5.3 here soon and will definitely make sure the numbers align. Congrats on your progress!

Yessir I’ll be checking them all now lol.

Long block is done, ready to rock with the fancy new Straub headgaskets that are supposed to cool the chamber better. Tracks last outing is Saturday and Sunday, planning on being there so stay tuned. Built a trans stand today to do my brake comfortably lol.
