Default Ls swap dilemmas!!

Doing a LS swap in a 82 C10. Do anybody know the part # to a one wire coolant sensor for the 6.0l . I want keep my original gauge. And also which is more reliable, a electric fuel pump pulling from the top of a tank vs the bottom?? Thanks for any answers!!

There isn't a one wire coolant sensor.

Use the port on the rear of the passenger side head with an adapter fitting to hook up your original gauge.

I have at port on the driver side head at the front. I bought a coolant senor and pigtail from the dealer but it’s 3 wires and all the same color.🤷🏾dum♂️

The heads are identical. That same port is on the passenger side rear.
The driver's side head is where the coolant temp sensor goes for the PCM. YOU MUST USE THE LS COOLANT TEMP SENSOR OR IT WON'T RUN.

If you want to adapt your old sensor/gauge, use the unused port on the passenger side. You can get adapter fittings for $15.

What do you mean “pulling from the top of the tank or the bottom” all fuel pumps pull from the bottom - how else would you reach the fuel once the tank was lower than completely full?

I THINK he means a pump installing thru the top of the tank, going to the bottom. I doubt he meant pulling fuel from the top of the tank.

The most reliable fuel setup is the fuel bucket from the 6.0L and adapt it to the 1982 C10 tank. I'd use the fuel level sender from the fuel bucket. Newer ones are more accurate than the 0-90 ohm setup. External Electric pumps with a sump do work but are noisy. Some external electrics are better than others.

Well I should’ve been more specific for guys like you. I was asking which is more reliable ,Because I was trying to decide weather to get a sump tank welded at the bottom of the tank or use the original 3 outlets at the TOP OF THE TANK and run the line down to the fuel pump. I was told once it creates a vacuum it should pull from THE TOP OF THE TANK meaning the outlet at THE TOP OF THE TANK!!

U can get a stock 87 c10 gas tank setup. They came with intank efi pump oem. Just replace the intank pump with a walbro 255. Easiest way to have a intank setup.

Ive swapped alot of c10s. Ive added a inline pump after the tank selector valve and used both original saddle tanks. Havnt had issues with a c10 i swapped like this over a yr ago. Either way works but the inline pumps are a lil more noisy.

Preciate it , I was wondering if that selector valve was gonna be a issue and I took it off and was just gonna run one tank🤦🏾dum♂️. I already bought a aeromotive 11203 and a regulator. I’m running a carbureted 6.0 408ci 610 lift. The only thing I have left to do is hook the fuel system and relays up. I almost gave up!!
