48 Studebaker LS-3 conversion rear end Question

I have decided i need to upgrade the Studebaker Rear end. I want to keep the body stock so i need a narrow rear end ., Rear tire tread width is only 54 inches and it is a leaf spring car. Any ideas ?

u need to post ur width from wms to wms tho be able to figure out something close

A friend has a 2wd s10 rear in his. (A 4wd rear is 4 inches wider)...

Ford 8.8 from a Mustang, Explorer, etc would be the easiest to find used and have disc brakes and a decent limited slip unit with usable gear ratios. Another old favourite but very scarce nowadays would be the 9" under late seventies Granada's, some even came with disc brakes but the highway 2:73 or taller ratios really sucked.
